Did you know that personal care products (soaps, shampoos & cosmetics) commonly use these toxic chemicals?

1. Petrochemicals : Used as a main ingredient to produce creams, lotions, soap, detergents

& shampoos. Carcinogenic. They also mimic estrogen, which leads to unbalanced hormones (estrogen dominance, hypothyroidism, cardiovascular disease, PMS/female difficulties, premature puberty, male breasts, enlarged prostate, weight gain, immune suppression, depression, low testosterone levels, low energy/libido, cancer & more).

2. Imidazolidinyl and Diazolidinyl Urea:

Used as preservatives; primary cause of contact dermatitis; releases formaldehyde (toxic).

3.

Methyl, Propyl, Butyl and Ethylparaben:

Commonly used as inhibitors of microbial growth and to extend shelf life. Causes many allergic reactions and skin rashes. All four of these chemicals are known to be toxic.

4. Propylene Glycol:

Usually a synthetic petrochemical mix used as a humectant. Has been known to cause allergic and toxic reactions and is retained systemically.

5. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate:

Synthetic substance used in many “natural” shampoos for its detergent, degreasing and foam-building abilities. Causes eye irritations, impairs proper formation of young eyes

(damage permanent), causes separation of skin layers (irritation, dermatitis, rashes), corrodes hair follicles (resulting in hair loss & scalp scurf similar to dandruff), is retained in heart, liver, skin & brain tissue, damages the immune system, causes allergic reactions and is mutagenic.

6. Strearalkonium Chloride:

Developed by the fabric industry as a fabric softener and is used in hair conditioners and creams. Causes allergic reactions and is toxic.

7. Synthetic Colors (FD+C or D+C) followed by a color and number:

Cancer causing agents.

8. Synthetic Fragrances:

Contain over 200 chemical ingredients, labeled as “fragrance”. Causes heaches, dizziness, rash, hyper-pigmentation, violent coughing, vomiting, skin irritations and the list goes on.

9. Triethanolamine (TEA):

Used to adjust ph and to make stearate, a base for cleansers. Causes allergic reactions including eye problems, dryness of hair and skin, and could become toxic if absorbed into the body over time.

10.

Eiethanolamine (cocamide DEA or Lauramide DEA)

Found in over 600 home and personal care products. Linked to cancer through skin

exposure (carcinogenic).

11. Aluminum & Bismuth

Aluminum is a base in many cosmetics and is an antiperspirant that increases Alzheimer’s

risk by as much as 300%. Bismuth , a heavy metal, is used in many brands of mineral

makeup. It can cause skin and eye irritation.
