Chapter 18 —Disorders and Issues of Children and Adolescents
Goals of the Lesson:
Cognitive : Students will be able to describe common signs and symptoms for the various mental disorders in children and adolescents. They will be able to identify etiological factors involved in the development of childhood mental disorders and discuss treatment options for the child or adolescent with a mental disorder. They will also be able to perform a nursing assessment of the child or adolescent with a mental disorder and formulate nursing diagnoses with expected outcomes to address problems common to clients with these disorders. Finally, they will be able to plan selected nursing interventions to address the needs of the child and adolescent with a mental disorder and determine criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of nursing implementation.
