Mode-coupling theory. Passive Guided-wave photonic devices: Electro-optic modulator, directional coupler, Bragg gratings, optical filter, DWDM technology Active guide-wave photonic devices: Optical Amplifiers, noise figure, gain profile, ASE noise. Gain equalization, bit error rate, amplifier cascade. Grading Policy: Two in class Exams: 60% Final: 40% Course Policy: Cheating will not be tolerated! You must attend all exams. Failure to attend will result in a grade of “F”. If you have a “valid” reason for not coming to an exam, you must let the instructor know in advance! Make sure to check the class website for updates!
