DEPARTMENT, UNIVERSITY, COMMUNITY & PROFESSIONAL SERVICE
In my 18 yrs at the University of Mississippi, I have participated in a wide range of service activities. I recently finished serving a
second term as Chair of our Faculty Senate (and as Senator 3 separate times) and, in that capacity, on numerous additional university
committees ranging from Strategic Planning Council to the Counsel of Academic Administrators. Over the years, I have also served on
numerous searches as either a chair or member including departmental faculty, chair, dean, vice chancellor and provost. I have served or
am currently serving on a number of university standing committees as either chair or member including Institutional Animal Care and Use
Cmte, Academic Suspension and Appeals Cmte, University Outstanding Teacher Selection Cmte, Frist Student Service Award Cmte,
Student Life Cmte, Sensitivity and Respect Cmte, among others. At the departmental level, I have served as Director of the Graduate
Program in Experimental Psychology, served on the Chair’s Advisory Cmte and revised our Promotion and Tenure Guideline document. I
have served or am currently serving as Faculty Advisor to Mortar Board, Habitat for Humanity, Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Club and
Hapkido Club. Other activities associated with the university or community include being a regular invited speaker at Freshman Summer
Orientation Sessions, developing the initial Honors College Curriculum, serving on the Departmental Chair’s Advisory Cmte and serving
on the Board of Directors for Oxford/Lafayette Co. Habitat for Humanity. Outside the university I have worked with a number of
professional organizations in varying capacities. These include being a member of the Executive Committee for the Society for
Philosophy and Psychology, Chair (2001) and Co-chair (2000) of Project Kaleidoscope’s Psychology Curriculum Workshop Summer
Institutes, Program Co-Chair for the Society for Philosophy and Psychology 2000 Annual Meeting and Session Chair of Content of Bodily

Awareness and Pain Perception at the 2001 Association for the Scientific Study of Consciousness Annual Meeting. While I am certain to
have omitted other service activities, I believe these service responsibilities offer a representative sample of my involvement in this
important aspect of university and community life.
