Historical Fiction Book Report / Board Game Project
Due: May 13, 2015
Your next book report will address the genre of historical fiction. In this
subgenre of fictional literature, the story is based on real, historical events,
but the characters may be imaginary. While the major happenings of the
story have occurred, the minor events may also be imaginary.

Choose your book.
a) Mrs. Lambert must approve your book choice by April 17,
2015. This will be worth 5 points
Plan to read a bit every day in order to finish in time to
complete your project.
Create a board game to illustrate the major events of your story.
a) Put forth effort into your work. It is unfortunately easy to
see who rushes their assignments at the last moment.
b) While it is lovely to receive some support at home,
remember this is YOUR homework, not mom and dad’s
homework. I enjoy seeing what you can create, from your
imagination. I am looking for effort, not perfection.
c) Try to use recycled materials whenever possible. You
definitely do NOT need to go out and purchase items for
this. Old cardboard makes for a great game board and old
photos or pictures cut from old magazines are fun when
turned into game pieces.
d) In your game you MUST use cards that detail the major
events/characters in the story.
e) Correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation will be required.
Your printing must be neat – or you can type it and cut it
out.
f) Your classmates will be playing your game, so play it at
home a few times to make sure it makes sense and that it is
playable – with or WITHOUT you!
g) Your game must be played with four players.
h) Directions as to how to play must be given
i) You can model your game after another game, but the game
board and fate cards/movement cards must include
information about your historical fiction. The story must
be embedded in your game.
