Windy Weather Warning
High winds can cause a mess when we collect your recycling and trash. We recommend that
you use plastic shopping bags or other bags to contain recycling and trash that might otherwise
blow away. Because recyclables are generally lighter than trash, it’s a good idea to set out the
blue recycle cart only when it is nearly full. These simple steps can make a big difference in
helping to keep our City clean.
FREE Spring Clean-Up
The Spring Clean-up will be held April 12 –
17th. Place your discards and extra waste at
the street by 6 A.M. on Monday, April 12th, for
collection during that week. (You do not
need to call for pick-up.)
Remember to contact a local charity if
your discards are still useful to someone else.
New Drop-Off Location.
Residents who
have additional waste can transport it to our
community clean-up site behind City Hall.
Entrance to the site is off of Civic Drive, next
to the Dog Park. The site is open 8:00 A.M.2:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 17th.
Household Hazardous Waste
Speaking of the Household Hazardous
Waste facility, this new facility is open every
non-holiday Saturday, from 9 A.M. to 2 P.M.
For more information, visit:
www.rivcowm.org/hhw/hhw_schedule.html.
Recycle Household Batteries
The safe disposal of household batteries
just got easier. You may place your batteries
in the blue recycling cart; they will be
properly recycled.
Bulky Waste Collection
We will collect up to two Bulky Items
(furniture, appliances, tires, electronic waste,
etc.) per year for FREE. Call our office to
make arrangements for this service. (Charges
apply for more than two items per year.)
Combat Recycling Theft
One way you can reduce your chances of
being a target of scavenging is to place your
recycling cart out on the morning of your
scheduled collection day instead of the night
before.
This simple act will reduce the
opportunity for scavengers.
Remember to destroy any documents that
contain sensitive personal information.
Congratulations Sue

with our team. Sue began her career with us
as a receptionist and retired from our

focused much of her time researching and
tracking residential property ownership

We offer special haul services for a fee for
material you cannot get to the curb. Excess
waste or bulky items must be outside the

Sharps & Prescription Drugs
The term “Sharps” refers to needles and
lancets, razor blades, and any other devices
capable of cutting or piercing the skin.
Disposal of sharps can be dangerous if not
done correctly.
Since September, 2008,
California law prohibits the disposal of sharps
in trash, recycling or green waste containers
(Calif. Health & Safety Code Section 118286).
Pharmacies
provide
containers
for
postage-free mailing to biohazard disposal
sites.
Adhering to the law will help minimize the
risk of accidental needle sticks in our
community.
Caution is also needed when disposing of
outdated or unwanted Prescription Drugs.
Do not flush prescription drugs which can
contaminate our water system.
Instead,
enclose prescription drugs in a plastic bag,
(wrapping them in paper if necessary to hide
their presence) and dispose in your trash.
Today’s landfills are lined to prevent such
materials from leaching into the ground
water.
Raymond J. Wade
Family and friends gathered on February
to celebrate the life of our friend and
business partner, Ray Wade, who died
suddenly on Christmas Day at age 77. Ray
was well known for his wit and humor and
was deeply appreciated by all of our
employees.
