Tic-Tac-Toe Spelling: Homework for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday Nights Mystery Vowels Consonant Math Cross Outs Practice Test Telling Sentences Illustrate Your Words Hidden Words Alphabetizing Dictionary 1st Marking Period Mystery Vowels: Write each spelling word without its vowels. Replace each vowel with a line. Ex: bread = br--d Consonant Math: Write each spelling word. Count the number of consonants in each word. Then add the consonants of each word to find the sum of the consonants in your spelling list. Cross Outs: Write the words and cross out all of the silent letters (if there are any). Practice Test: Take a practice test at home given by a parent. Write any missed words 3 times each. (Include a parent’s signature in your notebook). Telling Sentences: Use your spelling words to write telling sentences. You may use two words per sentence. Please underline your spelling words. Illustrate Your Words: Draw a picture of your words or a picture that shows its meaning. Hidden Words: Write 5 spelling words. Next to each word, write 2 words of at least 3 letters that can be spelled using the letters in the word. Ex: Groveland (land, van, grand) Alphabetizing: Write your words in alphabetical order. Dictionary: Write the dictionary definition for five of your words. *Each Monday your child will bring home a corrected pretest in their Spelling/Grammar books. For homework, students will choose three activities throughout the week to score three in a row and get Tic-Tac-Toe! There is a weekly spelling test on Friday. Thank you!
