Note – Caol link road item was taken at the beginning of the meeting
Long term work programme is now underway. SM expressed his concern regarding traffic
management and single lane closures (affecting the economy of the area) however it was noted that to
maintain a safe working environment the management systems in place would have been assessed as
required.
Machine patching is complete. Transerv are hoping to have marking refresh works complete by the Bob
end of March. Any recommendations for additional markings will be considered following the Mitchell/George
conclusions of the traffic study.

Work looking into the removal of right hand turn lane to hospital (before lights) to reduce stacking
space has been put on hold pending the outcome of the traffic study.
Concern was raised at the length of time it was taking for the lights to change to the green man when Bob Mitchell
called. To be looked into.
Discussion surrounding this area was dealt with under traffic modelling study.
BM confirmed that a letter had been received from the Director of TECs (circulated to those present) Brian Murphy/
stating that an outline business case in the first instance would need to be made for getting the STAG Bren Gormley
appraisal works into the Councils capital programme. Cllrs are meeting with officers shortly to
progress the submission of the required OBC.
Bob Mitchell shared information from the initial modelling works with the group. A number of points
were noted
- Actual peak flow numbers are required to check modelling results. Plan to undertake counts in
August to gain this information.
- Following collection of August data, revised modelling will be done to include:
Inverlochy junction – a) with roundabout b) without lights
Morrison’s RB area a) right hand ban taken away b) Signals c) additional roundabout

Once modelling has taken place the next stage will be instructing preliminary engineering works to Bob Mitchell
check the feasibility of any identified improvements.
All works are complete apart from planting on the roundabout. It was noted that the mounded design is
deliberate to slow down traffic and obscure glare from the petrol station.
No progress to date regarding local closure protocol. BM to follow up.

Design ready to be issued in the new financial year.

In hand. Going to utilities meeting in May. Consultation period to follow. Area to be covered by SSD
is West End (town) to Lochy Bridge. Transport Scotland will issue a press release when appropriate.
No issues identified at Nevis Bridge. Flooding remains an issue by the leisure centre. ScTr to look at
in discussion with Mark Smith (HC). It was noted that there also appeared to be gully/standing water
issues between the petrol station and Claggan road end and at the crossing by the leisure centre.
Bod Mitchell will try and progress but it is not a priority for TS.

FCS is undertaking geotechnical investigations as part of their felling programme. ScTr have patrols
set up to monitor potential landslip areas.
Torlundy road markings –Transport Scotland have stated they will not move from the present legal

markings. Item to be removed from future meetings. Noted CC desire for a bus stop (North).
Next Meeting
Obstruction of view – The group supported the pursuing of community benefit for FCS works in the Stewart
form of vegetation/tree clearance to clear views. It was noted that a local ‘views from the road’ Maclean/Cllrs
document had been produced a number of years ago by SNH which identified specific areas for
clearance.
