Job Summary:
HallKeen Assisted Living Communities, LLC seeks a qualified, energetic, motivated and
experienced Activities Director to oversee activity at the Brigham House Assisted Living
Community, Watertown, MA.
Responsibilities:
The Activities Director is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of an
enrichment and recreation program for community residents in accordance with current/existing
state regulatory agencies. Assures that the spiritual development, emotional, recreational and
social needs are met and maintained on an individual basis. The Activities Director reports to the
Executive Director.
The responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:













Plans, develops, organize implements, evaluates, and directs the Enrichment Programs of
the community.
Meets with residents on a one to one basis and as a group to determine what enrichment
programs would better meet their needs.
Meets with administration, resident care staff and other related departments for planning
activities.
Develops and maintains a good working rapport with other departments within the
community and outside community agencies to assure that the enrichment program can
be properly maintained to meet the needs of the residents.
Assists in the development of, and participation in, regularly scheduled orientation and
in-service training programs
Interviews residents/families as necessary to better provide activities to meet their needs.
Involves resident’s families in planning programs when possible.
Arranges transportation and escorts for field trips and to other communities whenever
possible.
Encourages the arts and provides materials in keeping with the resident’s financial status
and the departmental budget.
Records and maintains activity progress notes as well as a record of resident activities.
Prepare and posts a schedule of activities and keeps the Orientation Board up to date.
Maintains CONFIDENTIALTIY of all pertinent resident care information to assure
resident rights are protected.
Organizes and maintains a Volunteer Program.
Reports any changes in the resident’s condition immediately to Nurse Manager and to the
Executive Director.














Reports and documents accidents/incidents immediately.
Schedules outside activities in the community. Arranges for trips to the theater,
restaurants, shopping and excursions on the lake.
Must be willing to work some evenings, Weekend Manager on Duty (Flexible schedule
as needed).
Must schedule enrichment programs to meet needs of residents 7 days a week.
Programs must be enriching and stimulating while keeping residents connected to the real
world.
Must utilize resident knowledge base and involve the more capable residents in leading
programs.
Coordinates activities with other departments as necessary.
With the help of the residents, develops and publishes a community newsletter.
Reviews complaints and makes necessary oral/written reports to the Executive Director.
Recommends to the Executive Director the equipment and supply needs of the
department.
Helps distribute the resident’s mail.
Makes daily rounds to stay connected with each resident and to assure resident wellbeing.
Supervises part-time enrichment staff.
Is responsible for the enrichment budget.
