Time:

Participants need to arrive promptly at the start of the day. Students are expected to be on

Prior to the Course:
 For local participants, please pick up an ACLS Provider Manual (with student CD) and the
Handbook of Emergency Cardiovascular Care for Healthcare Providers in the Education
Department, 2nd floor of the Mountain Pavilion. If you live outside the local area, email the
Education Department at education@kadlecmed.org to have your manual mailed to you.
 Attached is your copy of the BLS Review Sheet.
How to Get Ready:
The ACLS Renewal Provider Course is designed to teach you the lifesaving skills required to be
both a team member and a team leader in either an in-hospital or out-of-hospital setting.
Because the ACLS Renewal Provider Course covers extensive material in a short time, you will
need to prepare for the course beforehand.
Precourse Requirements:
You should prepare for the course by doing the following:
1. Complete the pre-course checklist that came with your ACLS Provider Manual. Review
and understand the information in your ACLS Provider Manual. Pay particular attention
to the 10 core cases in Part 4.
2. Review and understand the information in the BLS for Healthcare Providers video clip on
the student CD. The resuscitation scenarios require that your BLS skills and knowledge
are current. You will be tested on adult 1-rescuer CPR and AED skills at the beginning of
the ACLS Provider Course. You will not be taught how to do CPR or how to use an AED.
You must know this in advance.
3. Review, understand, and complete the ECG and Pharmacology pre-course assessment
tests on the ACLS student CD. You will not be taught how to read or interpret ECGs in
the course, nor will you be taught details about ACLS pharmacology.
The ACLS Renewal Provider Course does not teach algorithms, ECG, or pharmacology
information. If you do not learn and understand the ECG and pharmacology information
in the precourse assessment tests, it is unlikely that you can successfully complete the
ACLS Initial Provider Course.
What to Bring:
 Bring your ACLS Provider Manual to each class. You will need your ACLS Provider Manual
during each lesson in the course. You may refer to the Handbook of Emergency
Cardiovascular Care for Healthcare Providers as a reference guide during some of the
stations in the course.
DRESS CODE: Kadlec Health System has a dress code policy that will be enforced for all Kadlec employees. For
all participants, we ask that you dress modestly, comfortably and appropriately for participating in group activities
and/or skills stations. Every effort will be made to ensure a comfortable environment; however, a sweater or
sweatshirt may be needed for your personal comfort. We ask that no shorts, flip-flops/sandals, tank tops, tube tops,
etc. be worn. Employees who are not adhering to the dress code will be asked to change prior to the start of the
course.
CANCELLATION POLICY: Due to the need to facilitate the number of instructors and resources, this course
will close two weeks prior to the start date. If you feel that you need to cancel, you must do so prior to that time.
*Cancellations made two weeks or more prior to course start date will receive a full refund minus a $75.00
processing fee. (If you chose to add the Renewal BLS, there is no refund for the fee of the non-refundable code).
We reserve the right to cancel a class due to insufficient registrations. If class is cancelled, registrations will be
refunded. Attempts will be made to notify participants as soon as possible. The class fee will be refunded in full if
the participant is unable to attend due to medical reasons.
