Charity Treasurer Position – 2 days per month: £120 payable per day Spitalfields City Farm is a community space that inspires and that everyone can enjoy. Situated in the heart of London’s East End, the Farm is a welcoming, caring and inclusive community space for all and especially for the vulnerable and socially excluded. It is volunteer-led and a key strength is its culture of collaboration and peer support. Over 3,500 people participated in the Farm's activities last year including 270 volunteers, 125 children attending play sessions, 45 young offenders completing reparations orders and 1,900 school pupils participating in educational activities. These figures do not take account of the thousands of other visitors who enjoy the farmyard and gardens over the course of the year. Our site is open access 6 days a week for 50 weeks of the year. We are looking for a Treasurer to join our Management Committee. The Treasurer has the role of overseeing the financial matters of the charity and reporting to the management committee about the financial health of the organisation. The Treasurer role is supported by a part time bookkeeper and oversight of the Farm Manager. Very importantly you will love the farm's charitable mission and will be a great advocate of its activity and importance for the local community. The Treasurer will have professional experience of financial management and accounting. Initially we would require the Treasurer to attend the Farm twice a month and after an agreed time attend once a month. Daily rate of £120 a day will be payable. The Management Committee is a supportive environment and the incumbent Treasurer will be in post until October 2012 providing an ideal handover period for a smooth transition into the role. The expected time requirement is 2 days per month initially and then once a month in Treasurer capacity along with attendance at the monthly Management Committee meetings.
