Notes from the Chancery:
1. Diocesan Council for Ministry with Young People Request
Elroy Aguiar on behalf of the Diocesan Council for Ministry with Young People
is trying to gather information about youth groups and initiatives in the diocese.
If there are youth activities taking place in your parish it would be appreciated if
you could pass on some contact information and a brief description of your
youth group/activity to youthministry@mn.catholic.org.au
2. Closure of the parish office at Kotara
Fr Greg has decided to close the parish office at Kotara. This means All Saints
Blackbutt South will now only have one parish office located at St Kevin's
Cardiff. This change will take place effective Monday, 3 December.
The office is located at 230 Main Road, Cardiff. The office hours will be
Monday - Friday, 9am to 3pm, closed 12 noon to 1pm. The postal address is
PO Box 233, Cardiff NSW 2285.

1. The Refugee Action Network will be holding a fundraiser on Wednesday 28
November at 7.00pm at the Croatian Bowling Club, Albert Street, Wickham.

2. Prayers for deceased bishops and priests will take place on Thursday 29
November at 6.00pm in the chapel at Sandgate Cemetery, 116 Maitland Road,
Sandgate. All are welcome to attend.
3. A Mass for deceased nurses will take place on Friday 30 November at Sacred
Heart Cathedral, 841 Hunter Street, Newcastle West at 12.00pm. All friends
and relatives are most welcome to attend this very beautiful ceremony. For

4. You are invited to a music workshop with Oliver Brett, the Assistant Director of
Music for St Mary’s Cathedral, Sydney on Friday 30 November from 1.00pm –
4.00pm at St Therese’s Catholic Church, 53 Royal Street, New Lambton. For

5. The Dutch Society ‘Concordia’ Newcastle and Hunter Region invites you to
celebrate the official arrival of St Nicholas on Saturday 1 December at
Marmong Park, George Street, Marmong Point at 12.00pm. There will be a
sausage sizzle, toy raffle and Dutch pancakes. Children who have been
booked in will receive free sweets and a drink. For further information and

6. You are invited to mark the ordination of Fr Paul Bird CSsR as Bishop of
Ballarat in a celebration of the Eucharist led by Bishop Bird on Saturday 1
December at Corpus Christi Church, Platt Street, Waratah at 5.30pm. For

7. The Newcastle & Hunter Multicultural Choral Society will be holding its 35 th
annual Christmas performance on Sunday 2 December at Sacred Heart
Cathedral, 841 Hunter Street, Newcastle West at 7.00pm. All are welcome to

8. You are invited to celebrate International Day of People with Disability on
Monday 3 December from 10.00am – 3.00pm at Maitland Town Hall, High
Street, Maitland. There will be an Expo, fun activities, inspirational speeches,

9. You are invited to the centenary celebrations of St James’ Parish Church in
Muswellbrook from Thursday–Sunday 6–9 December. There will be a
Christmas Concert at St Joseph’s High School, Aberdeen, a trip down memory
lane with the pupils of St Joseph’s Primary School, Vigil Mass with Children’s
Choir, family outdoor movie night and barbecue and a special Mass and picnic

10. Newcastle Catholic Charismatic Renewal is having a Thanksgiving Mass to
thank the Lord for his work in our lives this year. It will be on Friday 7
December at 7.30pm at St Patrick's Catholic Church, 11 Macquarie Street,
Wallsend. All are invited to come to Mass and share supper afterwards. For

11. The Church of St Brigid at Raymond Terrace is 150 years old this year and
there will be a celebration on Sunday 9 December. Morning tea in the parish
hall will follow the 9.30am Mass and all current and former parishioners and
priests, students and teachers of St Brigid’s School and Sisters of Mercy are
warmly invited. There will be a photo display, entertainment by St Brigid’s
pupils, children’s activities and more! If you have photos to contribute, please

arrange for them to be scanned. You are invited to ‘bring a plate’ for morning

12. Join Newcastle’s internationally acclaimed vocal ensemble, the University of
Newcastle Chamber Choir, for their sublime annual Christmas event, A
Christmas Carol Celebration. Featuring esteemed harpist, Miriam Lawson the
choir will perform Britten’s exquisite Ceremony of Carols along with traditional
and contemporary Christmas works. Directed by Dr Philip Matthias the concert
also features Daniel Dries on organ and brass ensemble Just Brass,
conducted by John Kellaway. The event will take place on Tuesday 18
December at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 841 Hunter Street, Newcastle West at
7.00pm. Tickets are available through www.stickytickets.com.au or at the door.
