SPA COMMITTEE LUNCH & MEETING: Thursday, 9/24 @ 11:30am. The members of the SPA
committee will discuss the 2015 SPA season. Please see John & Claire Kirkwood or Nancy for
details. Lunch in the Garden Park.
SEPTEMBER BIRTHDAY BRUNCH: Friday, 9/25 @ 12 noon.
TUESDAY TOPIC: Tuesday, 9/29 @ 11:00am. Dr. Ruben presents “Exposing the Secrets of Never
Needing Medication Again”. Learn about drug safety, side effects, how to reduce the amounts of
drugs you need, therapeutic lifestyle changes and much more.
LONG BEACH BOARDWALK: Wednesday, 9/30 @ 10:30. Walk the Boardwalk and enjoy lunch at
JoJo Apples and ice cream at Marvel. Lunch & ice cream are on your own. You must sign-up in
person with a $2.00 transportation fee. Members only. Limit 20.
BOOK CLUB: Wednesday, 9/30 @ 2:00pm. Ellen Berman of the RVC Library leads a discussion of
“The Kitchen House” by Kathleen Grissom. Books available at the front desk.
NUTRITION & YOU: Thursday, 10/1 @ 11:00am. Nicole Graziano will discuss some of the best
healthy and nutritious choices for an active lifestyle.
BINGO: Friday, 10/2 @ 1:00pm. No sign-up necessary. $4.00 paid @ door. Bring your friends.

LANCASTER SHOW TRIP & THE DUTCH COUNTRY: 9/30-10/2. Luxury coach bus, 2 nights, 4

RVC SANDEL CENTER MISSION STATEMENT
It is the mission of the RVC Sandel Center to provide Rockville Centre older residents with a
multipurpose facility that promotes vital aging and life satisfaction through programs and activities,
volunteer and civic participation and meaningful social engagement.
SENIORVERSITY CLASSES
Beginning the week of 9/28 the following classes are made available through a partnership with the
RVC School District: Monday Painting with Acrylics, Tuesday Pilates, Wednesday Meditation
and Thursday Yoga. There is a $15.00 fee for each 6 session class. Registration forms are
available at the front desk. Checks should be made payable to the RVC School District.
NEW SENIORVERSITY CLASS - PAINTING WITH ACRYLICS: Mondays from 12 noon to 2:00pm
beginning 9/28. Explore your artistic passion at this new “Seniorversity” offering. Experiment with
basic technique, brush strokes, texture and color. There is a $15.00 fee for this 6 week session. (The
Thursday art class will still be offered).
QUILTING CLASS: Wednesdays @ 10:30 beginning 9/16. Hear Ye!! Hear Ye!!. Calling all quilters
and sewers. Quilting is back. Your help is needed to make beautiful quilted items to sell at the Craft
Fair in November. A great new teacher has wonderful ideas, so come whether you have talent or just
a willingness to learn and help out.
CORE STRENGTH WORKOUT: New time and day. Mondays at 9:45am beginning 9/14. Samantha
Sensale brings her energy and enthusiasm to this popular class.
CRAFT FAIR WORKSHOPS: Tuesday, 9/15 & 9/22 @ 11:00am.. Create adorable snowmen and
penguins. Creative people welcome.
“HAPPY HOUR”: Wednesday, 9/16 @ 2:00pm. Come and enjoy “mocktails” and snacks while
reminiscing about things that make us happy.
TRADER JOE’S SHOPPING: Thursday, 9/17 @ 11:15am. This will be a continuing program that will
take place on the 3rd Thursday of each month. Sign-up is required. We must have 10 passengers to
go. $2.00 transportation fee.
EVENING DINE AROUND: Thursday, 9/17 @ 6:00pm. “Prime Rib Night at MacArthur Park”. If you
want to order the prime rib, orders must be placed by Monday, 9/14. Since we may be closed the
week before, please call the office to place your order. You must sign-up in advance with the sign-up
committee. $32.00pp. Members only.
AMAZING 90’S: Friday, 9/18 @ 12 noon. The Senior Center is planning a special event to honor all
Sandel members age 90+. Those amazing VIP’s will be guests of the club for a big celebration that
includes a delicious lunch and great entertainment. Those who haven’t yet reached that milestone
birthday are invited to help celebrate. $10.00pp; $15.00pp for non-members. If you will be 90+ by the
end of 2015, please confirm with the office. Sign-up now.
