BAPTISMS
Baptisms are every Sunday at 1:00 PM. Parents are asked
to call the Parish Center and speak with the Priest or
Deacon who is on call and who will assist them in
registering their child for Baptism. The Church assists the
parents by offering instruction on the meaning,
importance, and responsibilities of the sacrament of
Baptism. A Pre-Jordan Baptismal Program for helping
parents prepare for the spiritual birth of their child is held
on the fourth Sunday of most months in the Spirituality
Center following the Noon Mass.
WEDDINGS
Couples planning to marry are asked to contact a Parish
priest to make arrangements for a wedding.

Dear Friends:
I can’t quite believe it; however, I have completed my first week at St. Anselm. And what a terrific week it has
been; and as my mother would say: “terrific, for a lot of reasons.” I had an opportunity to meet many parishioners
after the 8:30 Mass; folks coming to and from the Parish Center; encountering a few, early in the morning, as I try
to run and keep in shape. Working with the wonderful office staff that we have at the Parish Center has kept me
focused and directed during my first week.
Perhaps the most rewarding part of my early experiences at St. Anselm occurred last Friday, June 19. Around
6:30 in the morning, I accompanied Fr. Friel down to the chapel in the Spirituality Center. Fr. Friel was there to
greet the students, parents, and chaperones connected with the Steubenville Retreat. As I have been accustomed to
dealing with students at that time of day—especially teaching first periods in high school—I had a chance to meet
the very tired, yet enthusiastic, retreatants. I know how much time Fr. Friel and the adult leaders devote to this
retreat. I also realize how supportive our entire St. Anselm community has always been in helping this retreat
happen. With prayers, concern, and financial assistance, the students boarded the bus, knowing how many people
back at the parish were spiritually “with them.” And, along with Fr. Friel, I thank you.
I hope all of you are having a chance to enjoy the summer, as it begins. Please stay close to the Lord, as schedules
and routines become a bit different during the summer.
Please continue to “talk up” our great parish; our school; CCD Programs: and, all of the activities and groups that
continue to make St. Anselm Parish “The Place To Be!”
Have a good week.
God bless you.
Father Chiriaco
THANK YOU
May I say Thank You to all who were very supportive of me at the “Meet and Greet” this past Sunday. Thank you
to all who did the “setting-up;” and “cleaning up.” Thanks, too, to all of our parishioners who were able to join us
in the Church Hall for the refreshments. I am thankful and grateful to all of you. We are all in the boat together!
PRAYER FOR OUR NATION
God our Father,
Giver of life,
We entrust the United States of America to
Your loving care.
You are the rock on which this nation was founded.
You alone are the true source of our cherished rights to
life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Reclaim this land for your glory and dwell among
Your people.
Send Your Spirit to touch the hearts of our nation’s leaders.
Open their minds to the great worth of human life and the
Responsibilities that accompany human freedom.
Remind Your people that true happiness is rooted in seeking and doing Your will.
Through the intercession of Mary Immaculate, Patroness of our land,
Grant us the courage to reject the “culture of death.”
Lead us into a new millennium of life.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

Vincentian Message…
In today’s Gospel we see how, in faith, Jarius
asked Jesus to heal his daughter and how Jesus
then answered his prayer. In prayer, we also
come to know that we are loved by God and, in
that trust, we ask for healing for ourselves, our
loved ones and all those who are suffering.
This month, through your gifts, the Society of St.
Vincent DePaul brought the love and care of
Jesus to the poor by assisting 14 families,
providing $700 in food and $400 for utility, rent
and other bills, etc. Thank you.

How to dispose of the American Flag properly!
The Flag of the United States represents the men
and women who built America. We know that it
is not just red, white, and blue cloth. As the
symbol of America, it stands for the past,
present, and future of our country. It represents
our people, our land, and our many ways of life.
We show respect for the flag and the ideals it
represents by handling and displaying it
correctly. And, when the time comes to retire
(dispose) our flag, it too needs to be handled with
respect. If you have an American Flag that
needs to be properly retired, place it in the
container at the main entrance of our church, or
give it to Deacon Whartenby, and our Boy
Scouts will respectfully dispose of it.
Open Your Heart & Home
...to a Catholic exchange student from Spain
and/or Germany for the coming 2015-2016
school year.
Volunteer host families (with or without
children) as well as single parents are needed to
provide food, a bed and a loving home for the
coming school year, one or two semesters,
starting in August. EMF students have medical
insurance, spending money for their personal
expenses and expect to share their host family’s
daily life including household responsibilities.
They speak English, are well-screened and eager
to experience life in America. Their stay here is
sponsored and supervised by EMF (Educational
Merit Foundation), a non-profit, educational
exchange program. It is not too early to apply.
For more information on EMF students, please
call Marie-Claude Dejoud, 1-800-467-8363, or
