Write an essay about you and your family. Include the grammar structures and
vocabulary from Capítulo 5 as well as other chapters. Be sure to use the verbs ser, tener,
vivir, and usar. Include gustar with a noun and with an infinitive. Use conjugated -ar, -er,
and -ir verbs. Conjugate verbs correctly. Be sure that subjects and verbs agree. Make sure
adjectives agree in gender and number. The essay should be about 300 words. Use
complete sentences and correct spelling, punctuation, and accents.
 Use your name, age, physical description, personality, likes and dislikes.
 Say where you are from, where you live and with whom.
 Say how many people are in your immediate (nuclear) family.
 Name and say how each family member is related to you.
 Describe each family member (physical and personality).
 Say how old some of your family members are.
 Say if someone is older or younger, young or old.
 Tell what they like to do.
 If you have pets, you may include them as family members.
 If you have a small family, you may include friends.

Poster - Writing Assignment
Do you wish Brad Pitt was your father or Cameron Diaz was your aunt? Well, now they
can be. You'll be creating your own family tree poster filled with famous relatives. Using
magazines and/or photos from online, you will create a family tree. For each relative you
must include their relationship to you and other family members as well as a description
of them. You may talk about ages, hair and eye color, what they are like (physical and
personality), what they do and/or like to do, what they use and so on.
Include on your family tree:
 A minimum of 10 pictures to represent you and 9 (or more) different family
members (abuelos, padres, tíos, primos, hermanos y tú)
 A minimum of 5 complete sentences describing each member of your family
using correct verb conjugation and adjective agreement
 Use vocabulary 1 from chapter 5 (hair color, eye color, new adjectives)
 A colorful, creative, and neatly organized diagram of your family on poster paper
Mastery of Skills:
 Use of the verbs tener, ser, and usar to describe family members
 Use of conjugated -ar, -er, and -ir verbs to describe what everyone does
 Use of gustar + noun and gustar + infinitive to talk about what everyone likes or
doesn't like
 Subject/verb agreement and adjective agreement in gender and number
