The key requirements are: • the applicant should have a postgraduate degree in conservation, natural resource management, economics, international relations, development or the relative experience in related field programmes; • 10 years’ experience managing conservation and development programmes, including projects funded by Governments and Aid Agencies. Previous experience in fundraising an advantage; • able to demonstrate leadership abilities and a proven track record of senior management with special emphasis on financial, human resources and systems management; • the ability to interact at all levels of an international, multicultural and multilingual organization; • strong interpersonal skills and a good spokesperson; • excellent written and oral communication in English and at least one Pacific Island language; • a dynamic and adaptable personality with an aptitude towards resolving problems and building consensus; • a strong commitment to the purpose of the organization and an interest in conservation. Major Functions: Lead the WWF programme - of around 100 staff - to promote conservation in the Pacific through providing vision and leadership for the WWF programme and effective high-level representation of WWF with key audiences. II. Major Duties and Responsibilities: 1. To direct, manage and take responsibility for all activities of South Pacific Programme related to conservation, communication, human resources management, financial and fundraising activities. 2. Ensures that the WWF International Board approved policies, procedures and standards for operational, financial, personnel and administrative systems and outputs are implemented. 3. Ensures the effective implementation of the South Pacific Programme Strategic Plan (comprising of a Conservation Plan and Business Plan) and reports regularly to the Regional Director, WWF International and WWF network on accomplishments in achieving its objectives, according to agreed standards. 4. Ensures effective implementation of fundraising strategies with WWF National Organizations, Government and Aid Agencies, corporate and private donors. 5. Oversees timely operational and programme monitoring, evaluation and audit systems to measure and report on the performance of the WWF programme against the Indicators of PO Performance (Seven Outputs). 6. Ensures effective communication and collaboration with national governments, International agencies, and other non-governmental organizations. 7. Promotes regional and international attention to important conservation programmes in the South Pacific; and influence policies that promote their long-term persistence. 8. Provides leadership to the Senior Management Teams of the South Pacific Programme to ensure the development, financing and implementation of a sound and credible WWF programme. Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsible for the selection, training, development, supervision, evaluation and remuneration of all WWF staff working for the South Pacific Programme Office. IV. V. Working Relationships: 1. Internal: Interacts with WWF staff on a daily basis, and with WWF Country/Subregional Team Chair and members, as required. Co-ordinates and interacts with WWF Home Office and Network staff as appropriate. 2. External: Interacts with in-country governmental institutions, non-governmental organizations, academic institutions, the media and donors. Interacts with entities outside the South Pacific as agreed with the Regional Director in the Home Office. Minimum Qualifications: 1. Knowledge: The applicant should have a postgraduate degree in conservation, natural resource management, economics, international relations, development or the relative experience in related field programmes as outlined below. 2. Experience: 10 years experience managing conservation / development programmes, including projects funded by Governments and Aid Agencies. 3. Skills and Abilities: They should be able to demonstrate leadership abilities and capacity to manage human and financial resources and be able to communicate fluently in English and at least one Pacific Island Language.
