Tabor on Sunday evening, July 20th, is Gary Jackel, also known as Mr. Magic. Mr. Magic is a Christian who presents a gospel magic show. He is from Australia, and will be in the United States for awhile this summer attending conventions for magicians. He is a friend of Les and Martha Nixon, and comes to us highly recommended. On that same evening, there will be a homemade ice cream social. You know the routine! Bring some homemade ice cream, or a cake to put it on. When our magician friend, Mr. Magic, heard there would be homemade ice cream on the evening he came he remarked, “Homemade ice cream? Sounds like my kind of church!” February 12, 2016 Our 2008 Vacation Bible School is now history, but, oh, what history! We averaged nearly seventy children for each day of VBS, and had over 40 adults helping on a daily basis. The offering to buy school uniforms for the orphans at Eden Children’s Village in Zimbabwe came to over $1,500.00. There were about 180 people who attended the closing program on Friday evening. But most important of all were the Bible lessons teaching our young people about heroes from the Bible: Joseph, Moses, Joshua, and Esther. And on the last day of VBS, we learned about Jesus, the greatest superhero of all history. Plans are already underway for another exciting VBS for 2009! New Member Kyle Medlock was baptized at Wonder Valley on June 6. His address is 211 Washington Blvd., Salem IN 47167. Out of Chris’ Kitchen On July 27th, Ross and I will be driving to Grand Rapids, Michigan, for classes and training to establish the Kids Hope program between Mount Tabor and West Washington Elementary. To say that I am excited and anticipating this wonderful project is an understatement. I covet your prayers as I begin this special task. Please pray that I will absorb all that I can in the training. Pray that I will bring back enthusiasm and helpful ideas to the mentors. Please pray that even now the Lord will begin preparing the children who will be paired with adult mentors from Mount Tabor. What a wonderful outreach we can have!! We will be holding a health screening here at Mt. Tabor, in the Family Life Center, Tuesday, August 12, 2008. Life Line Screening uses ultrasound to determine if there is any risk of stroke, abdominal aortic aneurysm, and peripheral arterial disease. The tests are painless, non-invasive and accurate. There are no needles or radiation. The three vascular tests are $129 and if you choose to have all three of the tests you will receive a FREE OSTEOPOROSIS SCREENING. This preventative program gives people the opportunity to participate in their own healthcare. Problems can be detected early enough for your physician to begin preventative procedures. You should consider these tests if you: Are over 45 years of age. Have high blood pressure. Have a family history of stroke, heart disease, abdominal aortic aneurysm or osteoporosis. Are a smoker. Are a diabetic. Have high cholesterol. Are overweight. Appointments are required. Call 800-679-5609 for your appointment or for more information.
