T he Churches of Lugazi and Mpererwe were uniquely started to meet the spiritual needs of the people. It was in 2003, that we were moved to start fellowships in both areas. Mperewe; where I was renting a house in Kiyanja Zone. There, we had a prayer meeting fellowship every Saturday. Our aim together with my wife (then a fiancée) was to pray against the bad influence of witchcraft (children sacrifices, idol worship, and other occult) and the problem cultism. This area of Uganda (Gayaza road) has the biggest cults in Uganda. Not only that but also the problem of prostitution and drug taking due to hard life to youth and slum influence. This prayer meeting, therefore, became bigger in attendance which demanded for a Sunday Service. I n Lugazi, the vision started earlier on while I was at the Bible College, I had a burden for the poor factory workers. My father came to Uganda from Sudan to work under sugarcane plantation. Condition of all workers was miserable and definitely unchanging. It was as if they are bound by the powers of darkness; no development, children, grandchildren and parents remain doing such un-glorifying jobs. This was a pain in me and conviction that drove my vision and cry to the Lord. . As I wrote down my vision while doing my graduate studies as follows: My vision is to present Jesus to the unchurched and unreached, to mobilizing as many as possible to help in the task, and to the training and equipping of believers for their part in fulfilling the Great Commission. As citizens of God’s kingdom, we are to love, worship, and obey our Lord, to love and serve His Body, the Church, and to present the whole Gospel for the whole man throughout the whole world. Right now, I am seeing this vision come true. Many adult, youth and children are coming to the Lord and have their future and hope in the Lord. This vision has been successful because of your prayerful support. I pray that may God richly bless you! Our family is happily growing in the Lord through family worship which includes Bible Studies and prayers. Our schedule of Bible Study has made us grow in the Word of God. My wife is doing well and taking care of our kids. As she was converted from Islamic background, she is excited whenever I explain the truth to her. She has zeal for the Lord; her brother came to the Lord and the mother too because of her testimony. Once in a while we visit my mother in law and encourage her in the Lord. We lead our daughter Favor into prayers, during meal times and bed time. She will be four on December 29. She will be attending school next year. I am personally becoming busy because of ministry and other teaching engagements. God has blessed our family with family ministry. We do premarital counseling on voluntary basis as it the ministry in Africa. Many families come and we speak to their lives concerning family and marriage. Concerning this, pray for our family to remain faithful in the Lord and our daughters to grow faithfully and happily in the Lord. Pray for our daughter Favor studying. SUCCESS IN TOUGH TIMES IN UGANDA Achievements: Uganda is becoming better in terms of infrastructure, security, and social life. This evident peace and freedom in Uganda, which has attracted a number of people to find comfort here is a result of faithful Christian who prayed earnestly. We thank God for the growth and revival which was shambled during the Late Idi Amin Dada regime. But still Uganda, like the rest of the world faces many challenges. These challenges also are faced by the Church. Problems: Economy of Uganda has much changed to being expensive. Most of the commodities in the market have raised so much. It has reduced many families to single meal per day. Poverty has reduced many children not going to school because the parent can not afford school fees. Diseases, many people because of such condition find themselves to be idle and have no way to have money treat even simple diseases. Political immaturity has caused the government in Uganda and Africa as whole to have instability in economy and therefore poverty.
