Theme description:
We will be addressing the diverse facets and levels of community involvement a degree
in Art History and Fine Arts can lead to by exploring the evolving boundaries between art
and related fields in this age of multitasking and conglomeration.

As a reminder, the schedule during the conference is meant to make the most of your
TASA conference experience. During the actual days of the conference there will be
small opportunities for individual excursions. However, the DFW area has plenty of
sights and interesting venues – so we encourage early arrivals to the area just
because there is so much to see and do.

Workshop # 1
Art Tour of NW Campus Art Collection and temporary
exhibitions spaces: Winter Rusiloski
Location: Lakeview Gallery
Participants will tour the fourth floor of the administration building and view the art
collection developed by Mike Matthews and Dr. Wells as well as several other
permanent and temporary exhibits showing in our temporary exhibition spaces.
Workshop # 2 Animation Workshop: Christian Deleon Location: WFAB 1132
Participants will gain hands on experience working on an animation project that Christian
has designed for them. Participants will use Adobe Flash to explore some animation
basics.
Ceramic Assemblage: Fred Spaulding Location: WFAB 1147
Participants will be introduced to a variety of approaches to ceramic assemblage
used by contemporary artists today, as well as to the processes used by Fred
Spaulding in his ceramic assemblages. Participants will have the opportunity to
contribute a ceramic object to the "Clay-Merz Skyline" ceramic assemblage on
campus. Participants are invited to bring a ceramic object that they wish to
contribute to the structure or they can make a ceramic object at the workshop
which will be fired and placed in the structure.
Workshop # 3
Workshop # 4 Engaging Students in Art Appreciation: John Hartley
Location: WFAB1145
Participants will view a variety of strategies for engaging students in Art
Appreciation class including the use of internet video, non traditional presentation
design, and alternative resources as an integral part of classroom instruction.
Life Drawing Teaching Techniques: Malone Samuels
Location: WFAB 1148
Participants will observe a variety of techniques that Malone uses to teach life
drawing including demonstration drawings and teaching strategies. Participants
may bring drawing materials and sketchbooks to practice the techniques
introduced.
