Stud Service Agreement
Thank you for expressing an interest in using _____________________________ in your breeding program.
Enclosed you will find our policies concerning stud services to outside bitches. Before a commitment for breeding is
made please consider the following.
This Contract Certifies that:
This is to certify that the stud dog: _____________________________________________________,
AKC#: ________________________________________,
was bred to the bitch: ______________________________________________________________,
AKC#: ________________________________________,
on the following dates: _______________________________________, and is due to whelp on or near the
dates: _________________________.
Conditions
Stud Owner agrees to:
1. To provide photocopy of stud’s AKC registration
2. To provide photocopy of 3 generation pedigree
3. Have the stud dog in good physical condition
4. Take proper care of bitch while in our charge
5. Guarantee an actual tie mating occurs
6. Provide the bitch owner with written receipt for the stud service and a record of the breeding dates
7. Sign litter registration promptly and return to bitch owner
Bitch Owner agrees to:
1. To provide photocopy of bitch’s AKC registration
2. To provide photocopy of 3 generation pedigree
3. The bitch must be in good physical condition
4. The bitch must be free of fleas and ticks
5. The bitch must have a stable temperament
6. The bitch must be at least two years of age
7. If the bitch is five years of age or older she ought to have a current T4 thyroid test
8. Pay the agreed breeding fee and either the stud fee or puppy fee
9. Notify stud dog owner in writing no later than 70 days after mating if no pregnancy results from the
mating.
Stud Service Policy
1. There is a $50.00 non-refundable breeding fee.
2. Payment for Stud Services shall be rendered either by:


Stud Fee - Payment of $_______________ payable by certified check, PayPal or cash. Half is due
before the time of mating; the balance is due when the puppies are one week of age.
Puppy Fee - The fee will be fulfilled by the first selection of a puppy from the resulting litter. If no
puppy meets the needs of the stud owner, then payment will result in using the Stud Fee amount.

3. All fees are payment for the stud service only and are not to be construed as a guarantee of puppies. If the bitch
fails to whelp or whelps fewer than two living puppies at birth, the owner of the bitch must notify the stud dog
owner not more than 70 days after the date of the last mating.
4. If the bitch does not whelp a live puppy, the stud dog owner will return any payments, minus breeding fee.
5. If the bitch does not whelp two or more live puppies, the stud dog owner will return half any payments, minus
breeding fee.
6. Owner of the bitch agrees to keep the bitch confined and inaccessible to all other male dogs from the start of her
heat cycle until the bitch is fully out of heat.
7. Owner of the stud dog agrees to keep the bitch to be bred confined and inaccessible to all other male dogs until
the bitch has been bred and returned to her owner.
8. Reasonable care will be given to the bitch while in the possession of the stud dog owner. Any veterinary fees
incurred during this time are the responsibility of the bitch owner.
9. The bitch owner agrees that all puppies resulting from this litter will be properly cared for and placed in the
proper homes.
10. No puppy resulting from this breeding shall be transferred to wholesale outlets, dog dealers, brokers, humane
shelters, laboratories, pet shops or their agents.
11. It is specifically agreed that the stud dog owner is not obligated to sign the application for registration of this
litter until the stud fee has been paid in full or, in the case of a puppy fee, the stud owner has possession of the
puppy or puppies as agreed. Nor is the stud dog owner required to sign the litter application if any of the
conditions in this contract have not been followed or if there is a question as to the parentage of the resulting
puppies.
NOTE: The American Kennel Club takes the position that the owner of the sire is required to sign an application to
register a litter certifying only to the fact that a particular dam was bred to the sire identified on the Litter
Registration Application form on a specified date of mating, unless there is an agreement signed by all parties
concerned in which it is specifically set forth that the owner of the sire is not obligated to sign an American Kennel
Club litter registration application form until such time as the stud fee has been paid.
We have read and understand the conditions of this contract. Any/all fees incurred in the
enforcement of this contract shall be borne by the party in default. By our signatures we agree to
these conditions and acknowledge having received a copy of this contract.
