This monthly newsletter is a way to keep you informed about what goes on at the market and behind the scenes. Our vendors are excited about their products and the opportunity to get to know you and your needs – we welcome your comments, questions, and suggestions. What’s Going On – what extras you’ll find at the market Weekly drawing - When you make a purchase at our market, you are eligible to enter a drawing for $5 in coupons to spend at the Lunenburg Farmers’ Market. Each week two winners will be drawn. It’s simple – sign up at the EBT/Debit table. You may enter every week you make a purchase. Our market donates all proceeds above our expenses to assist other members of our community – Our market is a volunteer, not-for-profit market. No one at the market is paid. The market and EBT managers and the treasurer volunteer their time. Registration and weekly fees paid by our vendors provide income for our operating expenses. These expenses include a monthly rental fee for the portable toilet, limited liability insurance premium, advertising, occasional entertainment, our web site’s hosting fees, office supplies, payments to our vendors for coupon sales, and the monthly cost of offering electronic purchases. The Numbers – a summary of our bank account activities for the month of August. The account balances reflect the monies “in hand” as of August 31st. Savings account balance is $1,430.49 – We begin each season with enough money to pay our bills. We don’t spend money we don’t have and we don’t assume we will have it when the bill is due The balance in our checking account is $435.19 What came in (and from where) – Vendor fees of $115.00 - our vendors pay an initial registration fee of $10 and $5 each market day they attend What went out (and to where) – $110.00 – portable toilet rental fee for July $45.80 – monthly service charge and transaction fees for electronic purchases $49.00 - reimbursement to vendors for coupons accepted for their products – this figure represents reimbursements for market coupons awarded to our free weekly drawing winners and Cash Crop EBT bonus coupons. [EBT/Debit charges are reimbursed directly to our checking account within 48 hours by the various providers and our vendors are paid on the market day purchases were made – total vendor payments for August were $112.00] Upcoming Lunenburg events - additional things to do in Lunenburg SEPTEMBER 12 – Grub on the Green – the annual community potluck lunch on the Lunenburg Common, noon to 2 p.m. Bring a dish (main or side dish or combo) of your choice to share. If you’re a visitor to the area and can’t, come anyway – there’s always enough to go around! Comfort Country will be providing music for your enjoyment, thanks to a generous donation by NoCoNEK.com. SEPTEMBER 12 – Lunenburg Open Mic – Congregational Church building at the top of the Lunenburg Common. LAST of this season. $3, kids free with an adult. Please bring a finger food to share.
