Suggested Activities for Independent Time
Byward Market There is a lot to see and do here: great restaurants (of
varying price ranges), craft and import shops, ice cream or gelato. A fun
place to walk around and people watch. At night, choose among good
restaurants and pubs to get a bite to eat or a drink on one of the many
outdoor patios. Dance clubs and bars get busy until 2 am.

Seniors $11. Sat 9:00am-noon. Fri-Mon 9:00am-6:00pm. Wed & Thurs
9:00am-8:00pm. Body World’s Animal Inside Out is an unforgettable
exhibition that gives you a close-up perspective of what lies beneath the
surface of large and small animals. Thanks to the process of plastination,
you can examine the intricate biology of mammals, reptiles, birds and
invertebrates, e.g. a giraffe, camel, ostrich, octopus, and giant squid.
National Art Gallery 613-990-1985 Seniors $7 Others $9. Free Thursday

one of Canada's premier art galleries and it is currently featuring an
exhibit by renowned artist Alex Colville.
Currency Museum of the Bank of Canada 10:30am-5:00pm. Free
admission. Canadian notes, coins, and tokens, as well as currency from
around the globe, are highlighted in exhibits that reveal the story of
money. One of the museum's most popular attractions is a Yap stone
weighing over three tons. Stones shaped like this one, but much smaller
in size, were used as money up to modern times on Yap, one of the
Caroline Islands in the South Pacific. This piece has even been
showcased in Ripley's "Believe it or Not" Museum.

All About Ottawa, Ontario
Ottawa is the capital city of Canada, a country with 10 provinces and
3 territories. Ottawa is the country's fourth largest municipality, as
well as the second largest city in the province of Ontario. Ottawa sits
on the banks of the Ottawa River at the junction of three major
waterways: the Ottawa, Gatineau and Rideau Rivers.
Ottawa is a diverse and beautiful city of approximately one million
people, many of whom speak both official languages, English and
French. We have an interesting mix of nationalities, cultural
backgrounds, interesting shops and fine dining ethnic experiences.
It is the center of our federal government and a hub for high
technology research, development and manufacture. Cultural
highlights include a national art gallery, a world-class symphony, a
performing arts center, and many museums. Fans will appreciate a
variety of sports teams in the city such as hockey (the NHL Ottawa
Senators) and football, as well as ski hills, ski trails and executiveclass golf courses.
There is always something to do in Ottawa. Winterlude, the winter
festival in February, features tasty “beaver-tails” pastry and the
world's longest (so we say) ice-skating rink lined with ice and snow
sculptures. In May, the Tulip Festival attracts many visitors to our
city. Summer months offer music festivals, open-air markets, parks,
boat cruises on the canal and water sports. In the fall, the colorful
foliage is popular with tourists, cyclists, walkers and hikers.
