ANNOUNCEMENTS:
 Congratulations to Callie Burcham, Carly Jo Riggins and Jacob Zuspann for being
selected to attend Arkansas Governor’s School. Selection for Governor’s School is
based on a combination of ability and interest and is highly competitive. The six
week all expenses paid program is in its thirty-fourth year.
 If your student is interested in going to the U.S. Naval Academy, West Point, the
Air Force Academy or another military college, there is a meeting next Tuesday in
Ft. Smith. If interested, students should pick up information in the counselor’s
office.
 It’s not too late to get a yearbook. Reserve yours today before they arrive here at
the school in a few weeks. Payment and order can be made in room N101. Contact
jana.mccain@vbsd.us for details.
 All students that got spring pictures made and did not pick up proofs should go to
McCain’s room to get them ASAP.
 Seniors that ordered cap and gown pictures should pick them up in McCain’s room,
N101.
 Monday and Thursday every week.
3:00-4:00 pm: English Tutoring, Ms. Myers’s room, S217. FREE help with ACT
English and Reading preparation and practice, English class assignments, or
research and writing in any subject.
 Sparks Regional Medical Center is currently taking applications for the 2013 Caring
Teen Summer Volunteer program. This is an eight-week program, and there is an
extensive screening process that students must go through in order to be eligible.
The deadline to apply is April 29th, and interested students should stop by the
counseling center for an application.
 Attention sophomore and juniors. Now is the time to sign up for the summer ACT
class. You can pick up an application from your English teacher or from Mrs. D.
Dunn in room S118. The deadline to apply is May 3rd and you must be registered
for the June ACT test.
 Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will have a Youth Conservation Institute this
summer. Interested students can pick up an application from Mrs. Henson or Mrs.
Kaszubowski in the Counselor’s Office. Deadline for applications are April 30th.
 The Prom is May 4th and tickets will be on sale next week during both lunches. Only
Juniors and Seniors can purchase tickets. Each Junior and Senior can purchase 2
tickets. No one older than 20 years old can come to prom. If you are bringing
someone from another school, you will need to get a form from Mrs. Baldwin.
 To obtain a bus pass, students must have a written note from parent or a parental
request by email to lhill@vbsd.us . Phone calls for a bus pass will not be accepted.
 Math and chemistry tutoring is available on Mondays and Thursdays Mr. Porter for
Math and Ms. Miller for Chemistry/Physics in their classrooms.
