Oxidative Coupling: Chemistry between Two Nucleophiles1 Prof. Dr. Aiwen Lei, College of Chemistry and Molecular Sciences, Wuhan University, Hubei, P.R. China, 430072; aiwenlei@whu.edu.cn Our research focuses on developing novel and efficient bonds formation methods catalyzed by transition metals. Currently, we are interested in the oxidative coupling, which avoided difficult oxidative addition and made bonds between two nucleophiles. [1-6] As an important character of our research, understanding toward the reactions is the other focus. Recently, we revealed a second transmetallation reaction, which could occur in the Pd-catalyzed coupling reaction as a fundamental step. [7] In addition, kinetic studies in our laboratory quantitatively disclosed the rate of reductive elimination of Csp2-Ni-Csp2.
