THE CONSTRUCTION OF CYCLONE RESISTANT SHELTERS

UNDP DEX Service Center is seeking services of qualified engineers speciliazed in the construction of cyclone resisitant shelters.

The works under the services, as per the attached TOR, are to be completed within a period of four months.

The Site Engineers will be based in Bogale and Labutta Townships in the Ayeyarwaddy Delta.

Duty Station : Kyar Chaung and Pyin Ka Nu Kone in Labutta Township

Responsibilities: Under the overall supervision of the Post Nargis Early Recovery (PONERPP) Manager and Yangon

UNDP/ Cyclone Resistant Shelter Management team (CRSM) and the direct supervision of Township Shelter Engineer, the Engineer will:

1. Assist the Township Shelter Engineer to prepare weekly/monthly progress report with references of photo

3. documents and achievement in detail work schedule plan of site.

Ensure the quality assurance of every step of construction works as per detail drawing, design, BQ and technical guidance (SOW).

Liaise with the Firm Engineers and ensure for the progress of construction works under the guidance of

Township Shelter Engineer.

Advice Shelter Engineer, CRSM for the availability of technical matters and appropriate options of progress in construction.

Coordinate with other site engineers to ensure quality and effectiveness of implementation across the cyclone shelter constructions.

Coordinate with Firm Engineers for every weekly meeting or urgent if required and send meeting minutes to

Township Shelter Engineer.

Assist in taking regular testing in site and to send samples test to appropriate Laboratory for getting accessible

9. strength of construction materials and concrete strength (cube test, slump test, rebound test, etc...)

Provide any required information to the Township Shelter Engineer in order to ensure timely released fund in support of Contractor requested invoice and give recommendation of each task work of the invoice.

Undertake such assignments as may be instructed by the Project Manager.

Qualifications and experience:

Applicant should have a civil engineering diploma or engineering degree holder and at least four year experience in construction firms and preferred recently cyclone shelter construction experience is preferred.

Good level of English, both written and spoken. S/he should be able to work under pressure and in a physically challenging environment.
