Workshop on Aeronautics Research Infrastructures 25th January 2012, KoWI, Rue du Trône 98, Brussels , Belgium Dear Madam, Sir, The Air-TN Consortium is inviting you to the “Aeronautics Research Infrastructures Workshop”, which will take place at KoWI, Rue du Trône, 98 Brussels, Belgium, on 25th January 2012 Hereafter you will find the agenda of the workshop, the logistics information and the registration form. No fee has to be paid to participate to the Workshop. Objectives of the Workshop: Support to scientific research and industry developments requires to preserve and develop the basic assets of Aeronautic facilities. In the former ACARE working group on research infrastructures, a typology of the European aeronautical facilities has been established as follows: Strategic facilities : investments higher than €100m - operating budget as high as €10m/year – they are less than 10 in Europe; Key facilities : investments higher than €10m – tariffs on full operating costs – unique character – they are less than 100; Common facilities : medium or small size capabilities – basic tools. The main objective of the current AirTN task activity is to define a coherent and harmonised approach to improve the optimal use and identify the major upgrade of existing strategic and key aeronautical research infrastructures in the field of wind tunnels, simulators, large scale computing facilities etc.. Needs for new research infrastructures in Europe will be also addressed The present Workshop will focus on key messages for supporting the Aeronautical Research Infrastructures in Horizon 2020. The WS will be also the opportunity to present the catalogue of RI which is under preparation in the frame of AirTN project and the associated website.
