U.S. Mesotherapy Workshop Featuring Injection Lipolysis

I would like to invite you to the third US workshop given by the worldwide NETWORKLipolysis. This mesotherapy workshop is dedicated to training participants in the
advanced techniques used to get consistent fat melting using injection lipolysis. In
addition to treating many of the body’s fat prone areas, the workshop will also teach
techniques for dealing with post-liposuction deformities, depressed scars, post-fat
grafting deformities, and combination therapies such as lipolysis followed by liposuction
to minimize skin contour irregularities.
This workshop will be held by Diane Duncan M.D., FACS, a member of the ASAPS,
ASPS, and the American College of Surgeons, Certified Trainer for Advanced
Lipolysistherapy NETWORK-Lipolysis, MR Franz Hasengschwandtner, M.D.,
Scientific and Medical Director of NETWORK-Lipolysis and Shirley Madhere, M.D., a
local plastic and reconstructive surgeon and editor of the forthcoming book “Aesthetic
Mesotherapy and Injection Lipolysis in Clinical Practice”.
I am the Scientific and Medical Director of the NETWORK-Lipolysis and also of the
NETWORK-Globalhealth. Dr. Duncan is the Network’s US representative, member of
the Scientific Advisory Board of the NETWORK and the physician most experienced in
lipolysis in the US. I will teach the NETWORK standards, Dr. Madhere will present the
practical demonstrations.
There are many publications in the journals, and articles in the news and magazines
about mesotherapy and injection lipolysis. Classic mesotherapy, first developed in
France, used injections within the skin, or intracutaneous region, to deliver multiple
“cocktails” of pharmaceuticals. Our lipolysis treatment is a greatly refined and more
efficient technique which targets the area of deformity - a superficial localized pocket of
fat - and reduces the size significantly, as well as causing smooth skin retraction. In
many cases these results come close to equaling surgical results - but with no incisions
and no down time. At the IMCAS conference in Paris in January 2006, the results of
injection lipolysis were shown to be superior to the results of expensive external
ultrasound contouring, and better than radiofrequency skin tightening machines as well.
As Dr. Maria Landau pointed out, physicians do not need to purchase an expensive
machine to get good results.
Injection lipolysis remains the most cost effective non-invasive fat reduction treatment
currently available.
To date, there have been only minor transient sequelae - transient pain, diarrhea, and
self-resolving hyperpigmentation - in patients injected by Network-trained physicians.
There have been no serious long term complications other than a less than desired
improvement perceived by the patient. Therefore I am very proud that the NETWORK
have been asked by the ASAPS and NETWORK members Dr. Duncan and Dr. Leroy
Young to join a current study for FDA approval.

A growing number of physicians are undergoing training in our high-quality workshops
in what is arguably the most attractive innovation in recent years. Most patients
instinctively choose the minimally invasive options, because they desire less risk and

Please permit me to say a few words about the Network-Lipolysis, founded in 2003 by a
number of committed physicians and two moderators, Dirk Brandl and Ulrich Bunzek.

The NETWORK-Lipolysis is a growing phenomenon—we now have trained 700
physicians from 43 countries worldwide. Because of the success of the interconnection
that the Network provides physicians, we have expanded to form a superordinated
NETWORK-Globalhealth. This organization is aimed at broadening the spectrum of
innovative therapies in modern medicine.
The one day workshop will review the scientific basis of injection lipolysis including
biochemistry, fat metabolism, histology, pharmacology, and dispersion studies. The
history and development of this process will be reviewed, followed by explanations of
technique and many before and after photo results. All areas of the body suitable for
injection lipolysis will be covered. You will be taught how to select patients, the
evaluation and documentation process, and how to estimate the number of treatments.
Formulas and maximal safe dosages per area are covered. The fine points of technique
will be demonstrated on live patients, and the follow-up, and treatment of minor
sequelae will be taught. Finally, an advanced segment on treating postop complication
with lipolysis, and combining this technique with other modalities, such as liposuction,
Restylane®, and Botox®, will be covered.
This workshop will give you the opportunity to be involved in the development of
injection lipolysis right from the very start. We would welcome you into our group of
innovative physicians and pioneers as we launch noninvasive fat reduction in the United
States.
