Invitation
"Your wish list for Europe"
Interactive event, organised by the European Ombudsman, Emily O'Reilly
4 March 2014, 9.00 – 11.30
Room PHS P3C050, European Parliament, Brussels
After five years of waiting, it's finally up to you, the EU's citizens, to decide
what kind of Europe you want. In May, you will elect a new European
Parliament. For the first time, your votes will have a decisive influence on the
choice of Commission President. The choices you make at the ballot box will
shape both the Parliament and the Commission for the coming five years.
But if you want to see real change, simply voting and then leaving it to the
political leaders is not the best answer. They need to know your priorities.
The European Ombudsman, Emily O'Reilly, is organising this interactive
event to let you do just that! As the EU watchdog elected to ensure good
administration in Europe, she wants to make sure that Europe lives up to its
claim of putting citizens at the heart of decision-making. Which policy areas do
you want the EU to focus on? What do you expect from those who will lead
Europe for the next five years? With your help, the Ombudsman plans to build
an interactive wish list for Europe!
The Ombudsman will be joined by the following heads of EU institutions to
listen to and engage with you, the citizens of Europe:
Martin Schulz, President of the European Parliament
José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission
Moderator: Tim King, Editor, European Voice
