By the end of the session delegates will have learnt about: The difference between monitoring and evaluation Quantitative and qualitative techniques Outputs and outcomes Why do we need to monitor our projects? What information do funders want? What to collect and how to collect it. This session will look at the numerous income generating activities for your organisation and why it is important to have a mixture of methods. Delegates will learn about: The importance of the fundraising mix Tax effective fund raising methods e.g. gift aid, payroll giving Options for future income generation Identifying what your organisation has got to sell and who might buy it How to make your project sustainable. This session will look at the key costs to include in a project budget and the steps needed in preparing a realistic budget. By the end of the workshop delegates will have learnt about: Capital and revenue costs Hidden costs Full cost recovery Helpful tips for writing a realistic budget Common budgetary mistakes. SESSION A2 Fair Enough! Find out why knowing your community and user group is important. Many groups and projects are committed to delivering services fairly to all members of the community; learn what this really means and what you can do to support a diverse group of users. By the end of the session, participants will be able to: Understand what the key equality groups are and the legislation behind it Develop ideas on how to be accessible and involve people from all walks of life Understand why equality monitoring is important to funders. Who should attend? The workshops are open to all South Holland based organisations. The following organisations will benefit from attending: Village hall/community centre committees Parish councils Playing field committees Arts and sports organisations Organisers of community activities and events. SESSION B2 Managing Risks Not Inventing Them This session will help to dispel the myths that you may have surrounding health and safety. It will help explain the legal duties that voluntary organisations and their volunteers have for themselves and others. By the end of the session, participants will be able to: Understand, in general, what is and what is not required in terms of health and safety law How to undertake a health check on their organisation and its processes Gain an understanding that effective health and safety management makes common sense. SESSION C2 Serving Your Community Safely This session is designed to provide you with an understanding of your responsibilities and legal duties under existing food safety and licensing legislation. Representatives from numerous funding and advice organisations will be available to offer free support to community groups who need help in raising money for their activities or developing project ideas. The Fair will take place in the Conference Room at the National Centre for Food Manufacturing. Please feel free to drop in anytime between 10.00am and 3.00pm, 14th July 2009. Free guided tours of the Centre and free grant searches are also being offered to all delegates (subject to availability).
