Agenda Item 12
22 February 2007
1 Purpose of the Report
1.1
This report informs the Board of LAA performance during the first three quarters of 2006/07.
2 Recommendations
2.1
The Board is asked to note the report.
3 Background
3.1 The Board receives reports at each meeting setting out progress towards achieving the high level outcomes contained in the LAA. The Executive
Committee and Pillar Executive Groups manage detailed performance for individual targets.
3.2
At the last Board meeting we also reported that proposals to ‘refresh’ the LAA had just been submitted to Government Office West Midlands. Our proposals were to include new mandatory outcomes and indicators and to make minor changes to existing ones. Official confirmation of our proposals is imminent. This report, therefore, looks at performance against the original LAA.
4 Performance of the LAA
4.1 Since the last meeting of the Board, the Executive Committee and Pillar
Executive Groups have reviewed progress in achieving their LAA targets. A handful of individual targets are red-rated but in each case the PEG is satisfied that appropriate actions are being taken to recover the situation.
4.2 At Pillar level, all except Economic Development and Enterprise are rated green.

4.3 Within this Pillar performance in achieving a reduction in worklessness is the major issue. Although it is adversely affected by regional and sub-regional economic factors improvements will become evident when activity detailed in the
Worklessness Target Action Plan starts to have an impact.
