Lifting of Temporary Ban on Domestic and Wild Birds and their Products including Poultry Meat, Day-Old Chicks, Eggs and Semen originating from Malaysia The Department of Agriculture (DA) issued Memorandum Order (MO) No. 25, series of 2006, lifting the temporary ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds and their products including poultry meat, day-old chicks, eggs and semen originating from Malaysia, which was imposed per DA MO No. 9, series of 2006, in view of the highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) virus outbreak in Malaysia. DA MO No. 25, s. 2006 takes effect on 25 July 2006. The Malaysian Government submitted its final report to the Office International des Epizooties (OIE) last 18 June 2006 that after ninety (90) days since the stamping out policy has been conducted in 22 March 2006, no evidence of highly pathogenic notifiable avian influenza (HPNAI) has been discovered. No positive cases occurred after clinical and virological surveillance were conducted intensively within a 10km radius after 22 March 2006. Based on the evaluation of the Bureau of Animal Industry of the Philippines, the risk of contamination from importing poultry and poultry products from Malaysia is negligible.
