Previous Professional Experience
1982-1985
Worked as chest physician in the National Health Service in Greece and
organised a pulmonary diagnostic centre, through which he directed a research
study on the effect of the work environment on the respiratory system.
1985-88
Was employed in the First Pulmonary Department of the G. Papanikolaou
General Hospital, initially as Registrar and subsequently as Senior Registrar.
June 1988
Was appointed Lecturer in the Pulmonary Department of the Aristotle
University of Thessaloniki, based in the G. Papanikolaou Gen. Hospital,
1990
Established the Lung Tumour Research Section. He is the head of the section.
The Section is responsible for the management of 280-370 lung cancer patients
per month. Its research laboratory conducts studies of new antitumour drugs in
cell cultures.
1992
Was elected Assistant Professor in the Pulmonary Department.
1997
Visiting Professor of Pulmonology in the Medical School of the University of
Novi Sad in Yugoslavia
2001
Was elected Associate Professor in the Pulmonary Department.
2008
Was elected Professor in the Pulmonary Department.
2010Was elected Chair Professor in Pulmonary – Tuberculosis Medicine and
Director of the Pulmonary – Tuberculosis Department.
