Speller’s Choice Activities You can choose one or more items to do each night, or you may spread them out over the week. You must do 40 points every week. Make sure you have labeled each activity and written it on your cover sheet. Activities with a * beside it must have a parent signature on the cover sheet to ensure that you completed the activity. 10 point activities: 1. Order Up—Write your words in alphabetical order. 2. Picture This—Draw a picture to represent each spelling word. Write the word next to the picture. 3. Calligraphy—Write each word twice in calligraphy (your BEST cursive handwriting). 4. Rainbow Words—Write each of your words in a least 3 colors. 5. Link to Link—Write the entire list endto-end as one long word, using different colors of crayon/ink for different words. 6. X Words—Write two words having one common letter so they criss-cross. Make sure you use ALL of your spelling words. 7. Other Handed—Write all of your 16. Who Am I Like?—Write each word and give at least 2 synonyms for each. 17. Differences— Write each word and give at least 2 antonyms for each. 18. Silly Sentences—Use all your words in sentences. See if you can use more than one spelling word in a sentence. 19. Poetry Words—write a poem using your spelling words 20. *3-D Words—Use modeling clay or Play-Dough rolled thinly to make your words 21. *Silly String—With a long length of string, “write’ words in cursive using the string to shape the letters. 22. *Popsicle Words—Make words using popsicle sticks. words with your other hand. 8. *Cheerful Words—Pretend you are a cheerleader and call out your words! 9. *Backwriting—Using your finger, draw each letter on a partner’s back, having the partner say the word when completed. 10. *Good Clean Words—Write your words using shaving cream on a counter or some place that can be cleaned safely. 11. *Dirty Words—Write your words in mud or sand. 15 point activities: 12. Categorize It—Categorize your spelling words into different groups. Make sure you label each group and explain how you grouped them like you did. 13.
