Analysis 9.1 In the Listing description, these premises are described as “House and shop c.1830, built as one pair. Slobbered rubble, stone dressings, slate roof”. The description notes the external detailing – including the C20 shop window – but refers only to “Interior has fine stone Gothic revival fire surround”. 9.2 The previously approve internal works did involve the alteration to the original staircase and this work has been carried out. The present proposal are, in effect a modification to that earlier works which involve the enlargement of a stair head lobby to allow access both the external (first floor) doorway and to the front bedroom. These works are an enlargement of the stair head lobby which is formed from stoothing. None of the existing fabric of the building will be affected by these works. 9.3 It is thus considered that the proposal will not materially affect the character of historic value of the property and that the proposal follows the advice contained in PPG 15 10.
