Psi Chi/Psychology Student Alliance Officer Application Becoming an officer of Psi Chi and the Psychology Student Alliance is a rewarding and valuable way to be involved at Colorado State University. As an officer, you will acquire leadership skills and gain expertise in working with a team. Additionally, you will be directly involved with faculty as well as other organizations on campus planning and executing events. You will also be given the opportunity to network with psychologists from across the country and to explore facets of psychology that are of interest to you. As an officer, you are expected to uphold the duties of your office to the best of your ability. -Attending a weekly officer’s meeting -Maintaining one weekly, posted officer hour. -Actively participating in most or all Psi Chi/PSA events. These duties should provide you with an idea of what is expected of you as an officer; however, please note that these duties are subject to change during your term depending on the needs of the organization. You will also be responsible for your personalized duties that accompany your elected position. See the end of this packet for a description of the specific officer duties. You must bring your completed officer application Tuesday, April 12th to the elections, held at the monthly member meeting (Tuesday, April 12th). During the election time, you will have a chance to give a short talk on why you would be the best for the desired position. Officer Duties Psi Chi President -In conjunction with the PSA President, plan and run group meetings, speakers, fundraisers, and any special functions. -Run any Psi Chi events, such as induction and officer installation. -Coordinate recruitment of new Psi Chi members. -Organize and oversee the Fundraising Committee. -Represent Psi Chi whenever the occasion or responsibility arises. -Represent Psi Chi on the national level. -Be aware of deadlines and group responsibilities. Psychology Student Alliance President -In conjunction with the Psi Chi President, plan and run group meetings, speakers, fundraising events and any special functions. -Coordinate recruitment of PSA members. -Organize and oversee the Service Committee. -Structure objectives and goals for the group. -Represent PSA whenever the occasion or responsibility arises. -Be aware of deadlines and group responsibilities. Psi Chi Vice President -Assist president with recruitment and induction of new Psi Chi members. -Run meetings or special events in the absence of both the Psi Chi and PSA Presidents. -Serve as Freshman liaison -Design and implement three social events at least one aimed primarily at Freshmen members Psychology Student Alliance Vice President -In the absence of the president, perform the president's duties. -Organize and publicize meetings and events. -Maintain a database of all Psi Chi and PSA members and log attendance points. -Maintain Chapter Website -Assist PSA president in the recruitment of new PSA members. Secretary -Take minutes at all Psi Chi/PSA officer meetings and e-mail to all officers promptly. -Maintain a list of the committee members for both the Fundraising and Service committees. -Send mass e-mails to members, faculty, and all psychology majors. -Publicize all Psi Chi/PSA events including Service and Fundraising projects. -Organize and oversee correspondence between members and Psi Chi/PSA Officers. Treasurer -Oversee all financial transactions for Psi Chi and PSA. -Take care of organizational bookkeeping. -Create a yearly budget to control spending. -Coordinate special funding requests from ASCSU or other grant proposals. -Assist PSA VP with publicity of events. Service Chair(s) -Coordinate service projects for members and officers throughout the year. -Oversee the Service Committee. -Maintain the Service Log Book and track service hours. Fundraising Chair -Coordinate fundraising projects for members and officers throughout the year. -Oversee the Fundraising Committee. -Work in conjunction with the treasurer to set and maintain a budget. Historian -Catalog chapter activities through the use of photographs and other reports. -Prepare chapter activity reports for National Office. -Prepare all newsletter entries for department and undergraduate newsletters. -Attend as many chapter events as possible. CNS Representative -Attend all College of Natural Sciences College Council Meetings -Represent Psychology in approving the use of undergraduate technology fees for various departments in the college -Report the Council’s decisions to the Psi Chi officers
