INTRODUCTION
The goal of course selection is to prepare an educational program which will empower all
students to make choices and meet the challenges of the 21st century. Each student will follow
six steps in selecting courses for the 2007-2008 school year.
1. Students meet with counselors in groups to discuss curriculum requirements and
recommendations.
2. Students and parents study the course selection guide and make their selections.
3. Counselors will meet with students individually to discuss course selections.
4. Counselors and teachers are available for a period of time to discuss selections with
parents.
5. Students will turn in their course selection requests by the appointed deadline
6. The school will use the course selection requests to plan a master
schedule, hire teachers, and purchase textbooks for the 2007-2008 year.
7. Students return in the summer for registration day to pick up their
schedules, select a locker, and pay fees for the 2007-2008 year.
With guidance, wise planning, and careful selections, each student should have the opportunity
to participate in an enriching and successful high school career.
While all elective courses may be offered, a class can only be created if there is sufficient
enrollment to justify a teaching assignment. Also, if a particular course is only taught one or
two times a day, there is a possibility of conflict with other selections. We try very hard to
avoid these problems, but this makes it very important for students to select at least three (3)
alternate electives just in case the requested elective cannot be taught.
CO URS E S E L E CT IO N
T AKE T H E T IME T O DO IT RIGH T !
The decisions you make in course selection, the effort you put forth in your classes, and your
participation in activities, clubs, and sports will have a direct bearing on future career decisions.
Counselors and teachers will work with you to develop a clear understanding of the courses
available. The curriculum of Spain Park High School is designed to assure each student a
comprehensive, balanced program to build a sense of achievement and the necessary background to
pursue personal career goals. Individual interests, abilities, aptitudes, and aspirations will be the
determining factors in helping students plan their curriculum while in high school. Course
selection is not a task to be taken lightly. You are encouraged to make careful
considerations as your choices are made.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
SCHEDULE CHANGES
Students and parents should exercise extreme care in course selections because these
requests set wheels in motion that might not be able to change! Teachers are employed and
books are bought based upon the course selections. Once choices are made, the school is staffed
to try to meet the stated demand. Parents should sign the registration sheet indicating approval of
student's choices. After the student has made their selections, and the parent has approved, schedule changes may not be considered except for emergency situations as determined by the
school principal. Only core academic changes will be considered.
The Alabama State Boards of Education regulations require a specific number of hours
participation in a course in order to receive a Carnegie unit of credit. Therefore, students will
not be permitted to drop, add, or change courses beginning the first day of school.
Beginning prior to the week of registration there will be a schedule conflict period where
counselors will be available to make any necessary changes to schedules.
A list of courses that will appear on a student’s schedule will be mailed to the student’s home the
beginning of July. No teacher names or permanent order will be listed. If there is a problem,
counselors will be available between July 9th and 27th by appointment to meet with students
and/or parents to make any necessary adjustments. Changes will only be considered if it is a
school error or a necessary academic change. No elective changes will be considered.
Schedule changes will be handled by appointment only. The dates of July 9th- 12th will be set
aside for grade specific appointments as listed below. All other dates are available for multigrade appointments.
Seniors- July 9th
Sophomores- 11th
Juniors- July 10th
Freshmen- July 12th
After this schedule conflict period, no schedule changes will be made. Because of this procedure,
it is critical that all students attend summer registration that will be held July 17th-20th at SPHS.
Schedule changes are not allowed for the following reasons:
Requesting a change in teacher for the same subject
Moving from a smaller to a larger class of the same subject
Moving from one elective to another
SCHEDULE CHANGE PROCEDURE
If a student believes that they have a legitimate reason to request a change:
1) Call the counseling center to schedule an appointment with your counselor on the
appropriate dates.
2) When you arrive for youir appointment, you will be asked to complete a schedule change
request form. Requests will only be considered for one of the following reasons:
a) School Error, if you believe the school made a mistake
Spain Park High School
6
b) Emergency, unforeseen circumstances (Principal’s decision)
c) Personal Choice, if you have changed your mind regarding an academic (not
elective) course
If the change is based on a personal choice, you will be asked to pay a $20 fee and
present a receipt from the bookkeeping office after the change has been made. Personal
choice changes will only be made if they do not impact textbook purchases or class size
limits.
3)
During your appointment, if the change is approved, the schedule will be adjusted
immediately and the changes will be reflected on the formal schedule that is picked up
during registration.
CURRICULUM OPTIONS
All courses offered at Spain Park High School are a part of a college preparatory program.
TECH PREP PATH
Occupational Focus: This option prepares students to enter the work force immediately after
school graduation and at the same time gives students the academic preparation to enter a 2-year
technical college when the student is ready for additional study or training for career
advancement.
COLLEGE PREP PATHS
College Prep Focus: This is the traditional high school program for students planning to attend
a public or private 4-year college or university following graduation from high school.
AP Focus: This curriculum is also designed to meet entrance requirements for both public and
private college/universities. Students enrolled in AP courses will take the College Board’s AP
test. Students who are successful on AP tests may expect college credits and/or advanced
placement at participating colleges and universities.
Students may also acquire college credits through dual enrollment opportunities offered at the
high school by Jefferson State Community College and other accredited colleges with which
Hoover City Schools has signed a dual enrollment contract.
COLLEGE CREDITS WHILE IN HIGH SCHOOL
Spain Park High School students may also obtain college credits through the following
programs:
PRE-ADVANCED PLACEMENT
The Pre-Advanced Placement Program is a nationally recognized program sponsored by the
College Board that prepares students to enroll in college level courses at the high school level.
Pre-AP courses are designed for highly motivated students who will focus on improving writing,
analysis and overall comprehension skills. The courses will require a great deal of reading and
Spain Park High School
7
writing. These courses will be very rigorous and have an over-all focus of preparing students for
Advanced Placement courses, in which students may potentially obtain college credit. Pre-AP
courses require a significant amount of additional work as compared to a regular high school
course. The majority of students enrolling in Pre-AP courses will be those who intend to enroll in
a subject specific AP course sometime during their high school career or seniors who plan to
further their study in a specific area at the collegiate level. Pre-AP courses will carry an additional
(+.25) quality point for grade weight purposes.
ADVANCE PLACEMENT
*Spain Park High School will be hosting a Curriculum Fair on February 20th from 6:00-8:30
p.m. All parents of potential Pre-AP or AP students are strongly encouraged to attend.
The Advanced Placement program is a nationally recognized program sponsored by the College
Board which enables students to complete college-level studies while still in high school and to
obtain college placement or credit on the basis of their performance on rigorous Advanced
Placement examinations. A strong Advanced Placement program depends upon a partnership
between motivated students, of whom much is expected, and dedicated high school teachers who
are trained by the College Board. Participation in Advanced Placement programs is often used as
one of the criteria for academic scholarships and acceptance into many highly selective colleges.
Generally, all Advanced Placement Courses carry a $15 fee for the year, as well as the
examination fee for students to potentially obtain college credit. All AP examinations fees will
be determined by the sliding scale posted on page 18. Any student that enrolls in an AP class will
be required to take the AP exam in May of that year. All AP courses will carry an additional
grade weight of (+1.00) quality point. Ask your counselor or AP teacher for more information.
DUAL ENROLLMENT
 Spain Park High School will be hosting a Curriculum Fair on February 20th from 6:00 –
8:30 p.m. All interested students and parents are encouraged to attend.
Dual Credit courses are college courses taken in conjunction with Jefferson State Community
College or other accredited colleges which have signed a dual-enroll agreement with Hoover
City Schools. These courses will count simultaneously for high school and college credit.
Students must have prior permission from the principal to enroll for dual credit and meet the
requirements specified by the college. Dual credit college courses will be offered on the Spain
Park High School campus through a special arrangement with Jefferson State Community
College. Not all colleges and universities accept Jefferson State Community College credit. It is
the student’s responsibility to check with the college of their choice to determine if credit will be
accepted. The Spain Park High School College and Career department is available for
assistance. Participating students receive high school Carnegie units toward high school
graduation and also receive college credit from the cooperation college. Tuition, books and other
college course fees shall be at the expense of the student or his/her parents or legal guardians. A
three-hour college course shall transfer as ½ Carnegie unit at the high school. These courses
receive an additional weight of (+.5). More information will be available during registration.
Forms for permission to enroll in college courses for dual credit are available in the Guidance
Office.
Spain Park High School
8
Off-Campus Option
Eligible students can attend classes away from the high school campus by taking courses
on the college campus. Under the conditions of our current Dual Enrollment Agreement,
courses taken on the college campus cannot substitute for core curriculum classes that
would be taught at the high school. See the Lawson State Tech section of this course
selection guide for more information on their off-campus dual enrollment programs that
meet during part of the school day.
On-Campus Option
Core curriculum courses and elective courses may be taken as a regular part of the high
school day for certain subjects approved by both the high school and the college. Students
who enroll in these courses can earn college credit by paying the necessary tuition and fees
to the college. The availability of these courses is subject to sufficient enrollment, and we
are presently restricted to offering these courses through Jefferson State Community
College. On-campus dual enrollment courses will be weighted equally with a (+.5) for
purposes of GPA calculation and class rank. Please see the Jefferson State Community
College section for a list of course offerings.
INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE PROGRAM
In 1996, Hoover City Schools became the fourth school district in Alabama to affiliate with the
International Baccalaureate organization in Geneva, Switzerland. This organization directs an
international curriculum that is recognized by educators, colleges, and employers around the
world as a standard of excellence. Since its inception 26 years ago, the IB program has become a
symbol of academic integrity and intellectual promise. The student who completes the program
demonstrates a strong commitment to learning, both in the mastery of subject content and the
development of skills and discipline necessary for success in a competitive world.
The IB Curriculum is taught in the 11th and 12th grades. Before entering the 11th grade, students
must have completed Geometry, Algebra 2 w/Trig, Biology, Chemistry or Integrated Chemistry
and Physics (recommended) and two years of Latin, Spanish, or French. Pre-IB English and PreIB History are strongly recommended for 10th graders considering entering the IB Program in the
11th grade. Students sit for international examinations in all subjects at the completion of their
study. If test scores are satisfactory and all IB requirements are met, students receive an
International Baccalaureate Diploma in addition to Hoover High School’s Advanced Academic
Diploma.
The International Baccalaureate program is an internationally recognized program of study at the
11th and 12th grade level that allows students the opportunity to earn an additional diploma from
Geneva, Switzerland. Students take examinations that are equivalent to the national exams used
in other countries. Spain Park High School students who are eligible for this program must
request a transfer to Hoover High in order to participate. The transfer is contingent on the student
remaining in the program until graduation. To assist students and parents in making a
knowledgeable decision, Pre IB courses will be offered to 10th grade students in English 10, US
History 10, and Integrated Chemistry and Physics. Grade weight will be assigned equivalent to
grade level Pre-AP and AP courses.
Spain Park High School
9
Some basic facts about the IB program at Hoover High School are summarized below:

Criteria – Students are identified as pre-IB candidates in the 9th and 10th grade. They
must have a GPA of 3.0 or have a score in the 90th percentile on their most recent
achievement test. Pre-IB students complete Honors level course work in all academic
subjects through the 9th and 10th grade.

Curriculum – The IB Diploma requires extended study in six academic areas: English,
Foreign Language, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science, and an IB-approved elective.
In the 11th and 12th grades, students complete course work at the highest academic level
in all IB classes.

Complements – In addition to the academic course work, IB students must complete
other requirements. These include an extended essay of 4000 words based on
independent research on a topic of the student’s choice, 150 hours of community and
creative service, and a Theory of Knowledge course.
For further information on the International Baccalaureate program, contact the IB Coordinator
at 439-1200.
ADDITIONAL GRADE WEIGHTING

A GUIDE TO COURSE NAME CONVENTIONS
USED AT THE HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL
The terms listed below are used at the end of course titles to denote their special status.
Course titles that do not contain these terms are considered part of the regular curriculum.
The regular high school curriculum of Hoover City Schools is based on a college
preparatory model, and students should always expect challenging content and homework
(an average of 15 – 30 minutes per night for each academic course). Homework should
typically include respectful tasks that support, but does not replace, classroom instruction.
A / B (USED ONLY IN MATH):
Description: Used to denote the Algebra 1-A / 1-B and Geometry A / B courses that
move at half the speed of the regular Algebra 1 and Geometry courses to provide more
opportunity for repetition and the development of mathematical literacy.
Recommendation: Students who struggle significantly with fundamental math skills.
Parents and students should rely on the advice of teachers and counselors for guidance in
this decision.
Content distinction: These courses cover the same content as their
regular counterparts, but they do so at half the normal speed.
Homework load: The same as regular courses, but students spend more time practicing the
same types of problems.
Grade weight: None
Criteria: Recommendation of current counselor and mathematics teacher.
PRE-AP:
Description: Used to denote advanced level courses that specifically include content and skills
that help prepare students for taking an Advanced Placement course in the given subject
(these courses will also prepare students for the International Baccalaureate program in those
subjects that do not have specific Pre-IB courses)
Recommendation: Students with a strong work ethic who have demonstrated above average
ability in the given subject and who desire to attempt college-level courses before
graduating from high school.
Content distinction: These courses cover more challenging topics by moving faster through
the content.
Homework load: On average, an additional 15 – 20 minutes per night for each course
Grade weight: +.25 quality points
Spain Park High School
11
Criteria: 85% average grade in the given subject area and recommendation of current
teacher
PRE-IB:
Description: Used to denote advanced level courses that specifically include content and
skills that help prepare students for participation in the International Baccalaureate

Pre-IB U.S. History — +1.00 for parity with AP U.S. History 10
Criteria: Approval of the IB Coordinator at Hoover High School
TEAM:
Description: Used to denote advanced level courses that are associated with academic
teams that represent the school in competitive events.
Recommendation: Students with a strong work ethic who have demonstrated superior
ability in the given subject and who can commit to substantial time demands outside of
the regular school day
Content distinction: These courses more even faster through the content than their PreAP / IB peers, and they use class time gained by the faster pace to practice for
competition in the given subject
Homework load: On average, an additional 20 – 30 minutes per night for each course
Grade weight: + 0.50 quality points
Criteria: Approval of team sponsor.
Spain Park High School
12
DUAL:
Description: Used to denote courses that are associated with Dual Enrollment agreements that
exist between Hoover City Schools and local colleges or universities.
Recommendation: Students with a good work ethic who have demonstrated above average
ability in the given subject and who wish to earn college and high school credit at the same
time. Students must pay tuition to the college and receive permission from the principal to
enroll in the dual enrollment course.
Content distinction: These courses follow the syllabus of the host college or university
and may be taught on the high school or college campus
Homework load: Varies by the course, but typical of what would be expected in a college
course
Grade weight: +0.50 quality points
Criteria: Established by the college or university admission office (dual enrollment
procedures)

a series of examinations in all academic subjects, and the scores from these exams can be
submitted for consideration of credit to colleges or universities
Recommendation: Students with a very strong work ethic who are prepared to begin collegelevel course work in all academic areas prior to graduation from high school and who desire an
international perspective in their education
Content distinction: These courses move at a college pace and cover a deep range of content as
defined by the IB Organization that meets the standards of colleges and universities around the
world as a benchmark of excellence
Homework load: These courses require substantial reading and writing assignments outside of
class, and students should expect on average an additional 30 – 40 minutes of homework per
night for each course
Grade weight: +1.00 quality points
Criteria: Acceptance as an IB Diploma Candidate (approval of the IB Coordinator at Hoover
High School)
THE ALABAMA OCCUPATIONAL DIPLOMA
Special education students may enroll in an occupational course of study aimed at obtaining an
Alabama Occupational Diploma. The student must have an approved portfolio containing a
collection of evidence of the student's knowledge, skills, and abilities related to the occupational
core curriculum. The primary postgraduate goal for students in the occupational course of study
is competitive employment. Students should make every attempt to get a regular high school
diploma before selecting the Alabama Occupational Diploma as an option because of the
restrictions for post secondary education opportunities. Because of diploma requirements, an extra
year of school may be necessary if the decision is made at the 12th grade level. This diploma
option must be determined by the students' IEP committee.

STATE/NATIONAL TESTING
AHSGE
Sept / Dec / March / July
The Alabama Board of Education requires that any student receiving an Alabama High School
diploma must pass all subject tests of the Alabama High School Graduation Exam and fulfill
requirements regarding number of credits. The assessment is composed of questions measuring
the objectives identified in the Standards and Objectives for Alabama High School Graduation
Exam, Bulletin 1997, No. 16, and Bulletin 1998, No. 13. The Graduation Exam tests reading
comprehension, language, math, science, and social studies. Students have multiple
opportunities, if needed, to pass each subject test before exiting school.
PLAN
September
The PLAN is a test for 10th graders that gives an early indication of readiness for the ACT
examination. The PLAN is used to help students and their parents, teachers, and counselors
identify each student's strengths and weaknesses as they begin to establish solid educational and
career plans. It contains academic tests that measure achievement in English, mathematics,
reading, and science reasoning.
PSAT / NMSQT
October
The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test / National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test
(PSAT/NMSQT) is a multiple choice test that measures verbal and mathematical reasoning
abilities important to doing college work. The PSAT/NMSQT gives students the unique
opportunity to assess their verbal and mathematical skills, forecast SAT scores, discover whether
they would be successful in Advanced Placement courses, participate in the Student Search
Service, and qualify for scholarship and enrichment programs (Merit Scholarships, Achievement
Scholarships, and National Hispanic Scholar Awards). It must be taken in their junior year to
qualify for the awards.
*The PSAT will be administered to all 10th and 11th grade students at Spain Park High School.
AMERICAN COLLEGE TESTS (ACT)
The American College Tests are offered five times during the school year to students, usually
juniors and seniors, who plan to enter college. The months for testing are usually October,
December, February, April, and June. A September ACT is offered in Georgia and Florida.
Preregistration is required and forms may be obtained from the Guidance Office. The ACT
Assessment assists eleventh and twelfth graders in the transition from high school to
postsecondary education by providing information that can be used for admission, course
placement, advising, and planning. It is recommended to be taken in the late spring of their
junior year, as much of the test is based on eleventh grade work. Registration information is
available in the guidance center.
RECOMMENDATION: Students attending in-state colleges.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
ABOUT COURSE SELECTIONS
1. Can Driver Education, Health, Computer Applications, Government, or Economics
be taken in the summer school to save an elective period?
Yes. Each summer, a number of students take one or both two of these classes in order to
make room in their schedule for another elective. Students taking Driver Education must have
their permit before summer classes begin. However, keep in mind that there are not that
many semester classes that will balance a schedule if you only take one of these in the
summer. The vast majority of sophomores will take Health and Driver Education together
and seniors will take Government and Economics in their normal schedule.
2. When is summer school going to begin? When will it end? How much will cost?
Summer School will be held at Hoover High School. First term summer school will be held
from May 30 - June 19. Second term summer school will be held from June 20 - July 13
(break July 4, 5, 6). The cost is $180 per term, with a late registration fee of $20.
Registration will be at Hoover High School on May 29, 9 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. No refunds
are available after Noon on May 30th. Only 1 absence is allowed; 3 tardies equal 1 absence.
Forms are available in the Counselor’s office.
3. If a student has gotten ahead by taking courses in the summer, can that student
leave campus early their senior year as long as they are fulfilling graduation
requirements?
No. We will not allow early graduation or partial-day schedules for seniors. There is more to
be said for completing your high school experience than simply checking off graduation
requirements.
4. What is the difference between a regular high school diploma and an advanced
academic diploma?
The State of Alabama offers an advanced academic endorsement to the regular high school
diploma for those students who complete additional course work. The specific differences
are spelled out in a table on page 15 of this course selection paper. An advanced academic
endorsement is not required for admission to any university, although many colleges do
require various combinations of courses for admission that are associated with the advanced
academic endorsement such as two or three years of foreign language or chemistry. You
have to know the particular requirements of a specific college in order to know for sure.
The advanced academic endorsement is a distinctive achievement and should be a mark of
honor when it is earned.
5. Do I have to take Pre-AP or AP courses in order to earn an advanced academic
diploma?
No. Because 95% of Hoover graduates typically transition to postsecondary institutions
(Universities, Colleges, Community Colleges, Technical Schools, etc.), we consider our
standard curriculum to be college preparatory. A student can meet all of the requirements
for an advanced academic endorsement without taking Pre-AP or AP courses.
6. Why do some courses have additional Quality Points like academic teams, Pre-AP
and AP classes?
Pre-AP, Dual Enrollment, academic teams, and Advanced Placement courses are assigned
additional quality points because of the increased difficulty. By weighting the grades in
Spain Park High School
20
these courses higher, we hope to encourage students to attempt more rigorous courses.
Students thus have the opportunity to earn a GPA above a 4.00, but they must continue
making high marks in these courses in order to receive the benefit.
7. Why is it so difficult to change my class schedule? What’s the big deal?
Administrators and counselors spend an incredible amount of time building class schedules
that reflect the students’ goals and interests, fairly distributes students among similar
classes, and places courses at times in the day where the most students can take requested
classes. Each time that a change is made after the master schedule has been completed
creates problems. Teachers are hired and textbooks are purchased based on the course
enrollment as projected in the spring, and there are often classes where there are no extra
seats or books available. We will not move someone from a smaller class to a larger class of
the same type, and we will not change teachers of similar classes.
8. What is Class Rank, and why is it so important?
Different schools calculate and report cumulative GPA in many different ways, and this
makes it difficult for colleges to compare one student’s GPA to another’s from a different
school. Increasingly, colleges are looking at a student’s class rank in addition to the actual
GPA calculation because the class rank shows them how a student compares within their
own peer group. At the end of each school year, your GPA and rank for that year and your
cumulative GPA (9th - 12th grade) and rank are printed on the report card. The class
Valedictorian and Salutatorian are identified as the number 1 and 2 respectively in class
rank at the end of the second semester of the senior year.
9. Are you required to take Health your sophomore year?
No, but it is a graduation requirement. You can delay taking the course, but remember that
doing so will mean that you will be taking the class in the future with younger students.
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
SELECTION PROCEDURES
1. The academic records of juniors will be reviewed in January following the end of the first
semester. Junior students with a GPA of 3.65 or higher will be scholastically eligible for NHS
membership. A student must be a Spain Park High School student for at least one full semester

3. Academically eligible students will be notified by a letter that will be distributed during the
school day. An informational meeting for both students and parents will be held where other
criteria for membership selection will be explained.
4. In order to demonstrate achievement in the areas of character, leadership and
potential members must:
service,
Spain Park High School
21
a. Complete a Student Activity Form
b. Complete faculty evaluation forms for their four academic
teachers, one elective teacher, and one teacher of their choice
c. Be interviewed by the Faculty Council if the council has
questions about the Student Activity Form or a faculty evaluation
5. Candidates receiving a majority vote of the Faculty Council will be inducted into the Spain
Park High School National Honor Society.
All students will be notified by mail regarding the decision of the Faculty Council.
MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS
1. To maintain membership in the National Honor Society, a cumulative GPA of 3.65 or higher
is required for each semester grading period. The first time a student drops below a cumulative
GPA of 3.65, he/she will be put on probation. If during ANY semester that follows the
student’s cumulative GPA is below 3.65, they will be dropped from membership.
2. To maintain membership in the National Honor Society, students will be required to
participate in chapter meetings and service projects selected by the Spain Park chapter.
Failure to attend meetings or to participate in the service opportunities will result in probation.
If the student does not fulfill his/her attendance and/or service obligation during ANY of the
following semesters, they will be dropped from membership.
3. To maintain membership in the National Honor Society, students must demonstrate leadership
and character. Discipline referrals (ISS, school suspension, plagiarism, etc.) will be referred to
the Faculty Council. The Faculty Council will determine what action, if any, will be taken on
a case-by-case basis.
4. Senior students are required to complete an academically challenging schedule during their
senior year. In order to maintain membership, seniors are required to take their four academic
core subjects PLUS at least one elective from mathematics, science, language arts, social
studies or foreign language, or an AP course from another discipline (art, computer, etc.) Twohour AP courses count as two (2) eligible courses. Seniors who do not meet this requirement
will be dropped from membership.
TRANSFER STUDENTS
1. If a transfer student has been inducted into the National Honor Society at his/her former
school, they will be eligible for membership in the Spain Park High School National Honor
Society after showing proof of membership.
2. The student will be eligible for membership in the Spain Park chapter of the NHS at the same
time that members of that student’s class are eligible for membership. (For example, some
schools induct sophomores into NHS. Because SPHS inducts juniors and seniors only, the student
would not be eligible for membership in the Spain Park chapter until his/her junior year.)
Spain Park High School
22
3. In order to maintain membership in the Spain Park chapter of the National Honor Society, the
transfer student must meet ALL requirements of the Spain Park chapter including academic
eligibility. If the student does not have a cumulative GPA of 3.65 or better, they will be put on
probation and if during ANY subsequent semester, the GPA from work done at Spain Park
High School is not 3.65 or better, they will be dropped from membership.
4. All transfer students will be required to abide by all guidelines of the Spain Park High School
National Honor Society. Failure to meet any obligations will result in the transfer student being
dropped from membership.
