Enter the 6th Annual IIT Cultural Photo Contest!

The International Center is providing IIT students, faculty, and staff with an
opportunity to share the beauty of the diverse countries and cultures represented by
the IIT community—as seen through their camera lenses! We invite you to submit
photographs of people, places and things from around the world and submit them for
consideration to the contest.
You can submit your photo submissions in 3 categories: (by 4:30 pm Friday,
October 16, 2009)



PEOPLE (For example, but not restricted to: Traditional wear/based on
culture, etc.)
ARCHITECTURE (Includes urban/rural landscape, buildings, bridges, etc.)
NATURE (Natural scenery, Animals, Water bodies, etc.)
Entry requirements:


Be an IIT student, faculty, or staff—domestic or international!
Be excited to share culture through your camera!
Photo Submission requirements:






You must have taken the photo yourself. No copies allowed.
Identify the category for which you are submitting the photo.
Submit a maximum of one photo in each category (Submission of one photo
in more than one category is allowed.)
Submit prints, 4 inches X 6 inches only, to the International Center, 405 Main
building by October 16, 2009. Color or black and white accepted. Please
note that these will not be returned.
Complete and submit the Photo Description Form (see below) with each
individual photo. SIGN THE RULES AND CONDITIONS ON BACK OF THIS
PAGE! Do not write on the backside of the photo!
IMPORTANT: This year we ask that you provide digital soft copies of your
entries. These can be e-mailed to icenter@iit.edu
Winners will have their photos professionally enlarged and presented at the
International Photo Exhibit during International Education Week in
November!

**MAKE SURE TO SIGN THE ‘RULES AND CONDITIONS’ WHEN SUBMITTING PHOTOS**
RULES AND CONDITIONS:
The photograph(s) submitted by an entrant must be the original creation of the entrant. By submitting a
photograph, the entrant is representing and warranting that said submission: (i) is an original work and has not
been copied, in whole or part, from any other work, (ii) does not infringe on the copyright, trademark or other
rights of any individual or company, (iii) is his or her sole and exclusive property. By submitting a photograph,
the entrant is also acknowledging that he or she has read and agrees to comply with the Rules of the 4 th Annual
International Culture Photo Contest, which terms are hereby incorporated by this reference. IIT, in its sole
discretion, reserves the right to disqualify and refuse to consider any entry for any reason, including, but not
limited to appearing to violate any rule of the Competition or required representation or warranty.
ALL ENTRANTS RETAIN ANY AND ALL PROPRIETARY RIGHTS TO THEIR RESPECTIVE
WORKS; HOWEVER, AS CONSIDERATION FOR THEIR RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE
COMPETITION, ALL ENTRANTS AGREE THAT IN SUBMITTING THEIR RESPECTIVE
WORKS THEY ARE GRANTING IIT THE RIGHT AND PERMISSION, WITHOUT CHARGE, TO
POST THEIR WORKS AND USE THEIR WORKS FOR PROMOTIONAL AND MEDIA
PURPOSES WITH SUCH POSTING AND USE BEING AS IIT SEES FIT AND APPROPRIATE, IN
ITS SOLE DISCRETION.
GENERAL CONDITIONS: All winners will be notified by telephone, mail or e-mail (at IIT’s sole discretion).
All winners will be asked to submit an Affidavit of Eligibility, confirming that he or she has satisfied all
conditions of entry. If a winner cannot be reached or notification of the winning entry is returned, unclaimed or
undeliverable or the winner fails to submit an Affidavit of Eligibility, the winner may, in IIT’s sole discretion, be
disqualified, and an alternate winner will selected. No prize transfer is permitted. All taxes, fees and surcharges
on prizes are the sole responsibility of the prize winner. By participating and accepting a prize, the winner
thereof grants to IIT and those acting pursuant to the authority of IIT, the right to print, publish, broadcast and
use, worldwide in any media now known or hereafter developed, including but not limited to the World Wide
Web, at any time(s), the winner's name, portrait, picture, likeness and other submitted photographs and
biographical information as news or information for advertising and promotional purposes without additional
compensation or review, except where prohibited by law. All entrants release and agree to indemnify, defend and
hold harmless IIT and its respective officers, directors, agents, employees and all others associated with the
development and execution of this Competition from any and all claims, liabilities and damages with respect to
or in any way arising from this Competition and/or acceptance or use/misuse of the prizes, including, but not
limited to, liability for personal injury, bodily injury, including wrongful death or disability, damage to property,
damage or loss of any other kind and infringement or misappropriation of copyright or other such protections.
