ORDERING TERMS
Order Terms & Policies
Bargain books are sold as non-returnable and non-cancelable once finalized for
immediate shipment. All bargain book orders must meet a minimum of $250 at cost.
Bargain books cannot be combined with orders for other products available through
NACSCORP. For a complete listing of all NACSCORP policies for bargain books,
please go to www.nacscorp.com/bargainbooks/BBPolicies.aspx.
Reorders, Backorders, and Bin & Hold Orders
Backordering, reordering, and Bin & Holding are concepts generally incompatible with
the volatile nature of bargain books. The supply of bargain books is highly dynamic, with
the result that it’s largely a “here today, gone tomorrow” product category. As a result:
1) Bargain books can’t be reordered if the stock goes under zero. Our stock will change
from day to day, titles that sell out will not be displayed on our web site, and we won’t
know if any title currently available will be back in stock at any time in the future.
Therefore, recurring titles are rare and impossible to predict, two characteristics that
make reordering very impractical for bargain books. If there’s a title that’s sold well for
you, you can keep checking if it ever comes back in stock, but there are no guarantees.
2) Bargain books can’t be backordered. We will show on our web site only those books
that are currently in stock. If you find a title you want, you must either order it or run the
risk of it being taken by someone else.
3) Bargain books can’t be ordered as a Bin & Hold. Bin & Hold is a free stock
reservation service offered by NACSCORP that lets you use our warehouse to store your
orders of regular books and/or technology products until you want them shipped. Given
our in-flux, constantly changing inventory of bargain books, such a service is difficult to
support. However, you can set up a schedule of future ships of assortments that will serve
many of the same functions.
Non-Duplication of Titles From Assortment to Assortment
For the same reasons given in the previous section, as a rule, all the bargain book titles
you receive from NACSCORP will most likely be different from assortment to
assortment.
PLACING YOUR ORDER WITH NACSCORP
Bargain Book Order Placement Methods
Online ordering capabilities are in place at the Bargain Books section of our web site at
www.nacscorp.com/bargainbooks, where you can use a cart system quite similar to the
process you go through now on our regular site to order assortments or by title. Or, you
can fax us a sign-up sheet to order assortments—please use the Recommended
Assortment sign-up sheet and/or Custom Assortment sign-up sheet (these assortments are
explained in the next section). We’ll also take bargain book orders by phone or e-mail,
but these must be clearly marked as bargain book orders and kept separate from orders of
“regular” NACSCORP books, technology products, and software licenses.
Bargain Book Order Options (By Assortment & Title)
We’ve developed a menu of three distinct ordering methods that we hope will appeal and
cater to stores and buyers of all bargain book experience levels:
1) Recommended Assortments are for those who want a nearly effortless way to
quickly order an assortment; you merely tell us what size/kind of assortment you
want, and we do the rest. A maximum title depth of 3-4 titles will ensure a diverse
variety of books, and each assortment will be different from the last.
a. Key Assortments give you the ultimate in hassle-free ordering: simply tell
us what size assortment you’d like (S/M/L), and we’ll send a broad selection
of titles from the campus-favorite categories of Fiction, Nonfiction, and
Juvenile in 2-3 price points. Choose a one-time shipment, &/or set up future
shipments to arrive in any combination of November/February/May/August.
b. Special Event Assortments are focused on specific bookselling events, just
like our Thematic Feature Assortments for trade books. Order any or all of
eight events spread throughout the year: Holidays, African American
History Month, Valentine’s Day, Spring/ Inspirational, Graduation, and
Halloween.
2) With Custom Assortments, you tell us how you want your assortment
customized to your store or campus needs. We still pick your titles, but you select
the categories, price points, maximum title depth, and either the total cost or total
quantity per category & price point combination. Choose a one-time shipment,
and/or set up future shipments throughout the year.
3) Coming soon! For those with much experience with bargain books or who prefer
to choose all their own titles instead of ordering assortments, Order by Title
affords the maximum freedom of selection. Our online Order by Title page will be
the best way to see, search, and order from our full database of bargain books.
You’ll be able to enter search criteria including title, author, publisher, ISBN or
Kudzu BB Item #, keyword, category, or a BBSRP range. Any and all in-stock
titles fitting your search will be displayed and will be orderable. An onscreen
“minimum counter” will tell you when you’ve reached the $200 at cost minimum.
As you order individual titles, your cart will be updated with a real-time quantity
verification. Quantities will again be verified upon check-out, but please keep in
mind that bargain book supply is extremely volatile—the longer you wait to check
out, the more you risk having your titles sold out while you wait. Reorders and
backorders are not possible, so the best chance to secure the titles and quantities
you want is to check out and finalize your order as soon as possible.
Display of Bargain Books on www.nacscorp.com/bargainbooks
All in-stock titles will be searchable/displayable/orderable from an Order by Title page.
(Out-of-stock titles will not be displayed because there is no guarantee they’ll ever be
back in stock, and backorders are not possible.) The online database will be replenished
with fresh quantities and titles daily. You’ll see a display similar to what is now shown
on regular NACSCORP book searches: a jacket image along with the book’s title, author,
publisher, ISBN, type of binding, category, quantity available, status as a new title,
Bargain Book Suggested Retail Price, original SRP, and your cost at the base 50%
discount.
Bargain Book Suggested Retail Prices (BBSRPs), Your Cost, and Discount Tiers
The Bargain Book Suggested Retail Price is a rough estimate, made by NACSCORP and
its partners, of the appropriate retail price. You are not bound to follow it; you may
choose to sell each bargain book at any price you see fit. Your cost for each bargain book
purchased through NACSCORP is at a base 50% off the BBSRP. A tiered pricing
structure will allow you to attain higher discount levels based on order volume. You’ll
receive a 52% discount off the Bargain Book Suggested Retail Price for each bargain
book in your order when you reach $750 at cost, and 54% when you pass $1,500 at cost.
Minimum Order Requirement
The minimum requirement for any bargain book order—through any combination of
Titles and Assortments ordered for immediate shipment, and for each future scheduled
assortment shipment—is $200 at cost. Online, a running “minimum counter” will tell you
when you've reached the minimum and can check out.
Bargain Book Order Consolidation
You may combine individual bargain book title(s) with a bargain book assortment to
make the $200 requirement, as long as the assortment order in question is for immediate
shipment (i.e. excluding any future scheduled assortment shipments).
Bargain book orders cannot be combined with orders of non-bargain books, technology
products, or any other products available through NACSCORP. Bargain book orders will
be fulfilled by our bargain book partners, not NACSCORP. Due to that reason and other
factors such as the preclusion of free freight, we ask you to finish your order on either the
regular NACSCORP site or the Bargain Books section of our site before switching to the
other to place a separate order.
DISPLAY & MERCHANDISING
Stickering Services for Assortments
Any Key, Custom, or Special Event Assortments you order will have the books prestickered at no additional charge. Stickers will be applied to cover the original UPC/ISBN
with a bargain book scannable barcode showing the BBSRP and month/year of shipment.
This date stamp will allow you to differentiate between old and new titles/assortments as
they come in, and assist you in marking down remaining stock that does not sell through.
You will eventually have the option to choose stickering or not for assortments and titles.
Available Merchandising Tools
You can order large or small wire display racks for $199.00/$150.00 each. The large rack
is 57" H x 48" W x 18" D and holds around 275-325 books; the small rack is 60" H x 24"
W x 24" D and holds around 175-250 books. To promote your display of bargain books,
we also have an 8.5" H x 11 W" clear acrylic sign holder that will fit both racks,
available for $15.00 each, along with professionally designed color signs, available by
free download, to fill sign holders. Signage selection includes signs for Special Event
Assortments, popular categories and price points, and general bargain/discount messages.
For even more help in your advertising efforts, the Merchandising section of our Bargain
Books web site gives you access to sample e-mail messages that you can use to let
customers about your bargain books.
Achieving Greater Sell-Through of Bargain Books
Bargain books that hang around on your table too long get stale and start eating away at
your bargain section's profitability. Units that aren't selling through must be priced to
move by following a structured markdown schedule based on the length of time titles
have remained on the floor. Our suggested 4-phase cycle starts with a 45-day period
(from first receipt/display of the books) selling at the full BBSRP.
Our suggested cycle predicts profit margins of around 25-40%,* provided you reach sellthrough targets for each period of 65-75% during Phase I, 50% during Phase II, and 30%
during Phase III. In Phase IV, you should liquidate any stock left after 90 days by moving
it forward on your bargain table and selling it at “a buck a book.” (One of the
assumptions of this model is that you will have books left over at the liquidation phase;
this is an accepted, expected fact of the bargain book business model.)

Free Freight Not Available for Bargain Book Orders
Bargain books do not qualify for free freight.
Warehouse of Origin
Your bargain books will be shipped from the facilities of our bargain book partners.
Shipping Lead Times
A "one-time/ship-now" Recommended Key or Custom Assortment will be shipped within
7-10 business days from order placement. Recommended Special Event Assortments will
ship at a pre-determined date for each assortment that will give you enough time to
receive, process, and set up the books for whenever they are to be displayed. Orders of
individual titles will be shipped within 7-10 business days from order placement. If you
combine assortments and individual title orders, the books will ship together and the lead
time will be as for “ship-now” assortments.
Bargain Book Boxes and Packages
Your boxes may be blank or they may be marked with the price point (AKA Bargain
Book Suggested Retail Price) of the bargain books inside. The shipping label will clearly
identify the contents as a NACSCORP bargain book shipment coming from our bargain
partner’s facility, to differentiate it from regular NACSCORP shipments coming our
facility in Oberlin, Ohio and regular book shipments coming from any of our four
regional (IBC) warehouses.
Packing Slips
Your bargain book packing slips will look quite similar to what you receive now from
NACSCORP (for an example, please see our sample shipping document page at
www.nacscorp.com/store/ShipDocs/ShipDocs.asp. They will include only information on
bargain book orders, because shipments will release from our bargain book partner’s
facility and bargain book orders will not be combinable with other NACSCORP orders.

Invoices
Your bargain book invoices will come from NACSCORP (for a sample invoice, please see
our sample shipping document page at www.nacscorp.com/store/ShipDocs/ShipDocs.asp.
