CROP CONDITION WHEAT: The standing condition of crop is reported/observed satisfactory. The rain received during the fortnight is reported beneficial for growth of wheat crop. However, nominal lodging of the crop has been reported in Bahawalpur division. The early sown crop is at earring stage, while the mid and late sown crop is in growth stage. GRAM: The growth of crop is reported/observed satisfactory. The weather remained favorable for the growth of crop. Rain received during the fortnight has good impact on crop especially in barani areas of the Punjab. Better yield is expected subject to continuation of prevailing weather conditions. Flowering and pod formation has been started. LENTIL: The standing condition of crop is reported/observed satisfactory. The area under this crop is 26.38 thousand acres according to first estimate which shows 7% decrease over the previous year due to shifting of area into wheat crop. Rain received during the fortnight has good impact on crop. The crop is on flowering stage and progressing well. The main growing area is Gujranwala and Rawalpindi division. OILSEED: The standing condition of crop is reported/observed normal. The crop is at grain formation & attaining maturity stage while late sown crop is on flowering stage. POTATO (AUTUMN): The area under this crop has increased by 6.8% as compared to the last year due to charming rates received by growers during the last year. The digging of crop is in progress and about 65% area has been dug so far. The objective survey results reveals that considerable enhancement in production of potato crop is expected. ONION The transplantation of Onion crop has been completed. The area under this crop is expected to decrease by 2% to 3% due to less economic returns received last year. The germination/growth is reported satisfactory. Weather is favorable for crop. GARLIC The sowing of Garlic crop has been completed and its germination and growth is reported satisfactory. TOMATO The sowing of tomato crop is in progress in the Punjab and near to complete. The germination is reported normal.
