HSAC GRADE POINT AVERAGE FORM
Name: _____________________________ PSU Student ID:
________________________
This grid is based in part on the parameters used by AADSAS for calculating GPA (as the HSAC wants to evaluate you on the same criteria). To
complete the grid below, use the GPA Calculator (Excel doc, provided at http://www.pdx.edu/clas/health-sciences-advising-committee-letter-service-0) to
obtain the data required to fill out the grid below. A Word document of this grid can also be found at http://www.pdx.edu/clas/health-sciences-advisingcommittee-letter-service-0
for use in submitting your HSAC materials.
See the next page for details on how to use the GPA calculator (recommended) or how to manually calculate your GPA if you do not wish to use the
GPA calculator. When filling in the GPA calculation grid below, consider the following:
1. Give GPA to two decimal places, for example, 3.46.
6. Non-Science = all courses not classified as science
2. List hours in semester hours.
7. Total = all courses
3. If a course is repeated, compute both grades into the GPA.
4. BCP = all courses in biology, chemistry, and physics.
5. Science = all BCP courses plus math and other science courses (such as Geology & Environmental Science)

PSU does not give A+, F+, or half-step grades (e.g. AB). These
grades appear as part of the AADSAS table & are useful for
students who have attended institutions that use such grades.
Do NOT include credits for courses in which your grade was a P, NP, X, W, or I, as these grades have no effect on your GPA. (Note, however, that starting in Fall 2006, I’s from PSU not completed within one year of the term in
which they were received will turn into F’s. This is not a retroactive policy.) Also, don’t include foreign coursework; simply submit unofficial foreign transcripts or copies of foreign transcripts.
