counterinsurgency, and small states and military power. Lectures provided include purpose of military
theory, the principles of war, introduction to strategy, insurgent theory, naval history, sea power
theory, history of air power, riverine operations, operations in a jungle environment, operations in a
desert environment, historical development of the management movem ent and the military, the
revolution in military affairs concept, and war, past, present, future. Developed case studies on small
states and the use of military force, counterinsurgency – the Malayan Emergency 1948 – 1960, and
military advisory missions
