Littleton Parish Council Additional A51 Highways Issues Jan. 2008 BUS SHELTERS The A51 is recognised as one of the busiest highways leading into and out of Chester City Centre yet, those using Public Transport are provided with no protection from the elements whilst awaiting the arrival of buses & coaches. During this particularly wet winter people waiting at the bus-stops along the A51 have been exposed to regular soakings, not only from the natural downpour of heavy rain, but also from the spray generated by passing HGV’s, Vans & Buses. This is affecting the following: Children/Students waiting for school buses to arrive and getting to school soaked. Staff ending their shift work at the local Residential Homes & travelling home using public transport. Old age pensioners & other members of the local community using Public Transport for access to the City & other areas. Proposal That the Parish Council request the provision of glass fronted bus-shelters to the 6 bus-stops along the A51 for the benefit of those using the Public Transport system, something which both Local & National Government are trying to encourage as an environmentally effective means of transport.
