Data description of the gridded precipitation data: In the data sets, one can find several numbers of compressed files. The name of the compressed file is according to the source (Downscaled or Observed) and data periods. For example, “Downscaled_gridded_2021_2050_RCP45_median.zip” file contains the CMIP5 downscaled data for near future (2021-2050) period and for RCP45 scenario. The “median” in the file name indicates that the file contains projected median (or expected) precipitation (The “lower” and “upper” in the file names indicate lower bound and upper bound precipitation for the corresponding period). After uncompressing (can be used 7z, winrar, winzip in window) each of the file, a folder will be created and the name of the folder will be same with the zip file name. Inside each folder, one can find 295 text files. Each of the file represents one grid cell and contains daily precipitation data for that period. The file name of a grid cell is provided according to the row and column numbers of the original 2 km by 2 km data sets. For example, “001035.txt” contains the data set for the grid cell which is at the 1st row and 35th column in the original data sets (in the 2 km by 2 km). The grid cell ID is six digit and the grid cell ID (or text file name) is equal to Row*1000+Column (We had a discussion with the Dr. Obey and agreed to keep in this form). Each of the file (open with using “WordPad” option in Windows) contains the grid cell information (Grid cell ID, Latitude, Longitude, Elevation) and start & end date of the data sets. Each of the file contains daily precipitation (in mm) amount (in each row) and the grid cell information. Please email at palash.iit@gmail.com , if you have any query about the data sets.
