THE FALKLAND ISLANDS JOURNAL- REVISED EDITORIAL STRUCTURE Since the sad death of Deputy Editor, Mike Stammers in January it is an appropriate time to consolidate the editorial arrangements for the Journal. As Deputy Editor since 1991, and with his substantial knowledge of all aspects of the Falklands, Mike’s passing leaves a huge gap. Since 2009, Rob Philpott has been of immense assistance on our small editorial team (myself, Rob, and until January of this year, Mike). Many other people have of course been more than willing to review articles in their own specialisms and this has added significantly to the overall quality and standing of the Journal. To slightly formalise the contributions of two such people, Kevin Kenny and Emma Jane Wells, we have decided that in future , the Editor of the Journal will be assisted by an Editorial Committee as follows:EDITOR. Professor Jim McAdam. Jim has edited the Journal since 1990. He has been involved in agricultural and environmental research in the Falklands since 1976, has published extensively on the islands, visits approximately annually and has a wide depth of knowledge across many areas of life in the islands. He is consultant to the United Kingdom Falkland Islands Trust and is on the editorial board of the Anales del Instituto de la Patagonia (Punta Arenas), He works for the Agri Food and Biosciences Institute in Northern Ireland and is professor in the School of Biological Sciences, Queen’s University Belfast. EDITORIAL COMMITTEE. Dr Rob Philpott BA, PGCE, MIFA, FSA, is Head of Archaeology at National Museums Liverpool. Rob has made a huge contribution to documenting the early history of the Falklands through his archaeological researches on Keppel Island, Port Egmont and FIC settlements on Lafonia and his recent work on the Warrah. He brings with him the wider involvement of the National Museums Liverpool (previously Merseyside Maritime Museum) in the Falklands over many years. Dr Kevin Kenny BSc from Co Kildare, Ireland is on the editorial board of Nimrod, the Journal of the Ernest Shackleton Autumn School and is a keen polar and Falkland Islands enthusiast. He has published articles on aspects of Sir Ernest Shackleton and LEG Oates' lives and has developed a transitional skills programme for second level schools using Shackleton as a role model. He is currently working on various consultancy projects including monitoring the delivery of primary care services, and enabling access to public resources via information technology. Emma Jane Wells MA(Hons), MA was born in the Falkland Islands. She completed research on the missionary station on Keppel Island in 1999 and in 2000 she was awarded a Shackleton Scholarship to study heritage tourism in the Islands, the report of which was submitted as part of a postgraduate Masters degree. She is Operations & Projects Curator at the University of St Andrews Museum Collections Unit in Scotland and manages the University museum. Her research interests include Falklands and Polar history and heritage and general museology subjects including audience development and community participation in museums. ASSISTANTS Carol Miller, a Falkland Islander, provides an invaluable service organising distribution and acting as a contact point in the Falklands. Geraldine McAdam helps with, among other things, subscriptions, sending out journals and proof reading. Tom McAdam operates the web page and gives invaluable IT assistance. All of the above give freely of their time to produce the Falkland Islands Journal. We also gratefully acknowledge assistance of various work colleagues and the Falkland Islands Company.
