Family and Student Programs
Looking for Lincoln Family Day Celebration!
Sat., Feb. 13, 1-4 p.m.
Celebrate the Museum’s newest exhibition and Abraham Lincoln’s 201st birthday with fun, educational
activities for the entire family! Explore the exhibition with a gallery hunt and make your own Abe Lincoln
“mailbox” – the stovepipe hat! At 3 p.m. meet Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln in 1865, as live
impersonators Larry and Mary Elliot describe and recount their life stories and time in the White House.
All activities are suitable for people of all abilities, ages 5 years and up. Free with Museum admission.
April School Vacation Workshops: The Life and Times of Abe Lincoln
Tues.-Fri., April 13, 14, 15, 16, 10:30 a.m.
Art activities for children in grades 1 - 3 related to the Museum’s exhibition. Students will explore the
exhibition and then create related crafts.
Tuesday- Beginnings: Indiana Log Cabin
Wednesday- Politician: Daguerreotype
Thursday- Civil War: Homemade Hardtack
Friday- Emancipation Proclamation: Freedom Quilts
Each workshop is a complete program, but the four projects are complementary. These inclusive
workshops are suitable for students of all abilities. Members $5, non-members $7, per student, per day,
includes all materials. Reservations are required for each day; call the Museum at (203) 869-0376.
Lecture Series
Thursday evenings, 7:30 p.m., Feb. 25, March 11, April 22
The Bruce Museum presents a series of three lectures by Lincoln scholars complementing the exhibition.
Lectures are free to Museum members and $5 at the door for non-members. Reservations are
recommended; call the Museum at (203) 869-0376.
Feb. 25 - Philip B. Kunhardt, III, Professor of History and co-author of the Meserve-Kunhardt
Foundation’s recent publication Lincoln, Life-Size, will lecture about the photographic portraits of
President Abraham Lincoln and what they reveal about the man.
March 11 - Dr. Eric Foner, DeWitt Clinton Professor of History, Columbia University will lecture on the
topic of Lincoln and Emancipation.
April 22 - Harold Holzer, Senior Vice President for External Affairs, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and
Curator of Lincoln and New York at the New-York Historical Society, will speak about Abraham Lincoln
and his connections to New York.
The Bruce Museum is located at 1 Museum Drive in Greenwich, Connecticut. General admission is $7 for
adults, $6 for seniors and students, and free for children under five and Bruce Museum members. Free
admission to all on Tuesdays. Museum hours are: Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday 1
p.m. to 5 p.m., and closed Mondays and major holidays. Museum exhibition tours are held Fridays at
12:30 p.m. Groups of eight or more require advance reservations. Free, on-site parking is available. The
