The Southampton Oncology Centre is based at the SGH for Medical Oncology, IP Clinical
Oncology and Malignant Haematology. Radiotherapy services are provided at both the new
centre at the SGH site and at the RSH Radiotherapy Department as previously. The Centre
which services a population of 1.75 million, aims to provide expert specialist care to both
cure patients whenever possible and enhance quality of life. The Centre provides a broad
based non-surgical oncology service for people living in Hampshire, Wiltshire, the Channel
Islands and the Isle of Wight. Patients with all types of cancer are accepted for treatment
and the Centre offers a regional and supra-regional service throughout its combined and
peripheral clinics. Specialist palliative care is provided by Countess Mountbatten House,
based at Moorgreen Hospital, West End, Southampton. The Manor House provides a hostel
facility for those patients who live too far to travel to the Southampton Oncology Centre for
Radiotherapy.
