From the Pastor
We have been very mindful of Faye Whiteley this week. The surgery to remove a
tumour began on Tuesday morning and finished in the early hours of Wednesday.
Faye was initially in ICU then moved to a Ward late on Thursday. Faye’s family
asked me to tell you how they really appreciate the support and prayers of the
Church community. The family asks that, for now, visits be restricted to family
and specific folk whom they have identified (in the Church’s case, this is Gesine
and me). Naturally we all want to find ways to show love and support. Faye is
unable to have flowers in her room and she is not able to eat, so chocolates won’t
be suitable, but balloons, cards, teddies etc are all right. This morning in Church
we have a very large card which we will pass around for people to write supportive
messages. We will continue to remember Faye, Peter and family in our prayers.
On Friday night Maelor and I represented the Church at the Baptist Union’s
Delegates Dinner. Various appointments were made, including our own member
Jame Lewis as the BUV Honorary Legal Advisor. A major part of the night was
given over to two main topics: Opportunities for ministry in the State’s Growth
Corridors and the BUV Family Violence Aware Churches project. Particular
areas which have been identified as mission opportunities are Norlane, Diggers
Rest, Woodlea/Rockbank, Toolern, Kalkallo/Donnybrook, Epping north, Plumpton,
Richmond, Fishermans Bend, Tarneit/Wyndham Vale and Hampton. Prayer is
requested as people and resources are needed to meet these needs. Yesterday
the Baptist Union Ordained 14 people (in two services) at NewHope Baptist
Church.
Today we will continue our series on Prayer as we read from Joshua chapter 1
and consider how God speaks to us as we pray; bringing to mind various
promises that encourage us.
Welcome to any visitors today. Please come and join with us
after the service for a cup of tea/coffee.

Prayer points
Praise God for Jesus Christ our Saviour and Lord.
Praise God for His answers to our prayers daily. Jesus said “Everything is
possible for him who believes.” Mark 9: 23.
Bible League: Praise God for the effective Bible Distribution ministry in the Middle
East. Pray God’s Word will remove misunderstandings about Jesus and bring
people into a relationship with Him. In many churches in the Philippines church
attendance is down by around 70%, but Bible League continues to run Church
Planter Training. More people are enrolling, even though churches are closing
and pastors and lay leaders are being killed by extremists.
Pray for God’s wisdom for the many World Leaders and Agencies dealing with the
increasing numbers of refugees crossing their borders or arriving by boats.
Baptist World Aid: Praise God for the impact Australia’s international aid program
has had. In 2014 our aid program helped vaccinate 23 million children, provided
life-saving assistance to 10.2 million people affected by disasters and helped 2.9
million gain access to safe drinking water. Give thanks for the many ways that
Australian aid continues to help transform lives around the world.
Pray for the young people in TNT andG2G. Pray for their leaders as they prepare
activities each week.
Pray for SUFM directors and leaders as they prepare for the Summer Missions.
Please pray for these people who are unwell: Peter Whiteley, Faye Whiteley
recovering in hospital after surgery on Tuesday, and Marie McKelvie.
People for prayer this week: Rosemary White, Peter and Faye Whiteley,
Carmel Wiggins
