Normal Direction: Direction perpendicular to the plane of the geotextile. C. Permittivity: Volumetric flow rate of water per unit cross sectional area per unit head under laminar flow conditions, in the normal direction through the geotextile. D. Permeability: Rate of flow of a liquid under a differential pressure through a material. E. Transmissivity: Flow or amount of liquid water per foot of material width passing through composite system at certain maximum soil pressure against geotextile at defined hydraulic gradient. 1.05 SUBMITTALS A. Product Data indicating compliance with specifications. B. Manufacturer’s installation instructions. C. Samples 6 inch by 6 inch of each drain indicated. 1.06 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING A. Deliver all materials in manufacturer’s unopened packages with all labels intact. B. Acceptance at site: Unload materials and check for damage. Remove damaged, rejected materials from site immediately. C. Store drain board in dry area in manufacturer’s protective packaging. Cover open partial packages of drain board to protect from oil, dirt and UV exposure. D. Drain board will become more rigid and less impact resistant below 25 Fahrenheit. Handle with extra care at low ambient air temperature conditions. 1.07 SCHEDULING AND SEQUENCING A. Schedule drain board installation after waterproofing installation and curing and just prior to (backfilling)(horizontal cover material installation). (Backfill)(Cover) drain board to avoid damage. In addition to SHEET DRAIN applications, use heavy duty, single-sided SHEET DRAIN HS at deep foundations, vertical lagging, chimney drains, landfill leachate detection systems with moderate flow rates and high compressive strength requirements. Use single-sided DECK DRAIN at horizontal applications such as plaza decks and terrace gardens with pedestrian loads only, and planter boxers. Page 2 of 4 8-99 2.02 MATERIALS A. Application of drain to (concrete)(waterproofing) or (protection board). 1. General construction grade adhesives compatible with dampproofing or waterproofing compound. 2. Pressure sensitive adhesive. 3. Mastic used for membrane application. Many sealants and adhesives are temperature dependent. A tendency in cold weather is to use mechanical fasteners. Call Greenstreak for specific recommendations/precautions for use or mechanical fasteners. Mechanical fasteners are not acceptable when penetration of a waterproofing membrane may occur. 4. Furring strips: Pressure treated lumber specified in Rough Carpentry Section. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.01 EXAMINATION A. Verify indicated components of waterproofing system have been installed. Verify horizontal applications have sufficient slope to drain. Verify sufficient slope to collection pipes for subdrainage systems. Substrates to be dry, dew and frost free, and free of dust or other materials which prevent adhesion of drain board to substrate. B. Submit written notification of unacceptable conditions or substrates. 3.02 INSTALLATION A. Overlap two rows of dimples and mechanically interlock with rubber mallet. Lap excess fabric a minimum of 3 inch at splices and secure fabric lap as necessary with adhesive. Shingle laps in the direction of flow. B. Face fabric towards hydrostatic source and face core towards subgrade structure. C. Lap excess sheet drain fabric over and around collection drainage pipe. Place core behind perimeter collection pipe. Invert elevation of collection pipe to be below construction joint in vertical subgrade structure. D. Verify backfill performed in compacted lifts. Sequence tall applications requiring bands of drain board with backfill to accommodate drain board vertical movement during compaction. E. Secure subdrainage system material to substrate. F. Roll and tuck excess fabric at terminations of drain board to back of core to prevent intrusion of soils into core. G. Promptly cover drain board to protect from damage by wind or UV’s. H. Repair tears or punctures of fabric with new filter fabric adhered over damaged area.
