Price List and Catalogue: effective from January 2015
The object of this catalogue is to show the range of goods we stock and the likely cost.
However, you will appreciate that prices do change and we therefore reserve the right to
alter any price if it becomes necessary, but only as a last resort. We do our best to ensure
that you get a fair deal and we suggest you try a few comparisons with other stores: we are
sure you will be pleasantly surprised at the amount you can save.
Seed potatoes can be ordered from September onwards and delivery is usually end
January/beginning February. We only order a set number of bags of each variety we are
going to stock and we keep a record as they are ordered so that, an early order means you
should get the variety you desire: it is often the case that some get fully booked before
Christmas. We also stock a variety of seeds of peas, broad beans, runner beans, etc.,
which we buy in bulk and re-package: these show a saving of about 35% over proprietary
packaged seeds.
For other seeds, we have the catalogues from Suttons and J T Brown. The orders for these
need to be submitted before middle December: it usually transpires that there is a saving of
about 33% on the marked packet price. We also keep a stock of Fothergills more popular
seeds: these show a saving of about 30% on the packet price.
The Trading Store is located on the Old Stoke Road Allotment site and is open every
Sunday from 9am until 12 noon, except for the Sundays nearest to Christmas and the New
Year. We also open on Thursday evenings, 6.30pm to 8pm in the Spring: please check with

Items are listed, as near as possible, in alphabetical order, and in groups of similar
products, e.g., all fertilisers are together, etc. Other items, such as secateurs, etc., which
are listed in our suppliers’ catalogues, can be obtained but only against a firm order. A price
will be obtained first and, if accepted, an order will be placed: it is expected that the member
will honour that order.

SOME NOTES THAT MAY BE HELPFUL IN SELECTING FERTILISERS, ETC.
Manures and composts are excellent soil conditioners but are relatively low in nutrients.
Plants take 3 major elements from the soil for growth:
a. nitrogen (N) for leaves
b. phosphorus (P), for roots, and
c. potassium (K), for fruit and flowers
The following chart indicates the approximate percentage of these elements in the various
fertilisers.
