CRITICAL ACCLAIM
“ If well-played chamber music is like an engaging conversation, the capacity audience at
La Maison Française on Tuesday night was witness to an intense tête-à-tête-à-tête…a devastating rendition of Shostakovich's second piano trio was the program's emotional high point.”
-Charles T. Downey, The Washington Post , February 2010
“The control over the nuances, the continuous tension, the breathing, the beauty of the attacks, the musical flow, the absence of “tonal stress”, the cohesion and the very welljudged balances, even in the control of musical climaxes, all made for a subtle and precious evening of chamber music…(by the Capuçon-Angelich Trio)… ”
- Christophe Huss, Le Devior , February 2008
“…A satisfying evening of great music well played…(by the Capuçon-Angelich Trio)…”
- Dan Davis, Classics Today , February 2008
“Nicholas Angelich and the two Capuçons play (Brahms Trios) in a way that's sure to kindle anyone's enthusiasm…warm, beautifully balanced tone stresses the composer's romantic side, as does the expansive phrasing. There's a feeling of spontaneity, too, as though each player is discovering new aspects to the music while recording it... the way they are able to strike a balance between Brahms's energetic flow of ideas, his strongly delineated structures and his lyric intensity is most satisfying.”
- Gramophone , August 2004
“…The Capuçons and Angelich seem to think and breathe together so naturally that the performance feels instinctively truthful.”
- BBC Music , July 2004
